BMG is a global organization representing the world&rsquo;s most extensive thermoforming portfolio in the following industries: automotive, medical, electronics, horticulture, food, and process automation. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p>We are searching for a <strong>Controls Engineer</strong> with experience in electrical design as well as experience in programming PLCs or motion-controlled systems. This position is located in <u>Beaverton, MI&nbsp;</u>with the option of hybrid work once initial training has been completed.&nbsp;</p><p>Our Controls Engineers are responsible for designing, programming, updating, and troubleshooting various PLC based control systems. &nbsp;They are responsible for electrical/controls design modifications to standard equipment and new equipment design. &nbsp;We have a distributed team of engineers that collaborate across our sites on thermoforming packaging solutions. &nbsp;The ideal candidate is detail oriented, can work in a team environment, has the ability to plan, schedule and problem solve effectively, and can work independently with little or no supervision.</p><p><strong>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong></p><ol><li>Make necessary electrical panel layout drawings, electrical designs, and electrical CAD schematics to ensure design meets industry and regulatory standards and project requirements.&nbsp;</li><li>Make appropriate calculations, research performance standards and component selection to ensure design specifications are met.&nbsp;</li><li>Design various sections of equipment to meet required specifications.&nbsp;</li><li>Prepare bills of material and other paperwork per internal standards.&nbsp;</li><li>Attend and participate in design reviews for evaluation of work order requirements to design, and cost implications.&nbsp;</li><li>Design and develop machine logic in PLC, operator interface applications and program servo motion controls.&nbsp;</li><li>Change drawings in accordance with ECO procedure.&nbsp;</li><li>Check drawings and bills of materials as relates to assigned projects.&nbsp;</li><li>Ensure design considerations, concepts, and software codes are documented.&nbsp;</li><li>Represent design team in work order reviews and final design reviews as required.&nbsp;</li><li>Start-up and debug machine prior to shipment.&nbsp;</li><li>Assists in field start-up and solving machine problems in field.&nbsp;</li><li>Direct various design activities on assigned projects.&nbsp;</li><li>Review with design team to ensure quality and internal design practices are being met.&nbsp;</li><li>Travel as required for the role.&nbsp;</li></ol><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong><strong>EDUCATION / REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:</strong></p><ol><li>A minimum of a bachelor&rsquo;s degree in electrical engineering or a minimum of 1 year work experience in a manufacturing environment.</li><li>Working knowledge of controls (PLC, HMI, and Motion Controlled Programs)</li><li>Working knowledge of electrical engineering design practices.</li><li>Excellent written and oral communication skills on a technical level.</li><li>A minimum requirement for this position is the ability to work legally in the United States on a permanent basis.
