    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p><strong>Overview</strong></p>\n<p>Department 489 is seeking a highly motivated experienced individual to support the design and procurement of the COLUMBIA Class Turbine Generator (TG) sets. The prospective D489 engineer will be responsible for the design, manufacture, test, and delivery of the TG sets for the state-of-the-art electric drive propulsion system on COLUMBIA Class submarine.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Collaborate with support organization personnel and other engineering disciplines to resolve supplier technical challenges and non-conformances</li>\n <li>Review of Supplier technical submittals</li>\n <li>Provide oversight of testing at the vendor facility in Sunnyvale, CA and the compatibility test facility (CTF) in Philadelphia, PA (frequent travel may be required)</li>\n <li>Participate in technical discussions with vendor(s), Prime contractor and NAVY customers</li>\n <li>Review internal documentation to ensure that requirements have been met</li>\n <li>Preparation of technical correspondence to NAVY customers</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Required:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems engineering or related engineering degree</li>\n <li>5 or more years of post-graduate engineering experience</li>\n <li>Working knowledge in Microsoft 365 applications, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint</li>\n <li>The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense secret clearance is required</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Master’s degree in Electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering with experience with electrical or electromechanical design, and/or Systems Engineering</li>\n <li>Experience in subcontractor management including supplier selection, contracting, negotiations, risk management, and quality assurance</li>\n <li>Experience in system component requirements definition and analysis, component design and qualification</li>\n <li>Prior experience with complex hardware testing</li>\n <li>Prior experience in supplier oversight and project management</li>\n <li>Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications in addition to those required, such as Project, Access, Power BI and Visio</li>\n <li>Working knowledge of Atlassian applications, specifically Confluence and Jira</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Skills</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Candidate must be highly motivated, perform independently, as well as interact with other groups and organizations, including interfacing regularly with the supplier and customer, in an engineering environment</li>\n <li>Candidate must possess strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills</li>\n</ul>",
