    "description": "<p>Cabin Resources Management Ltd. has built a foundation of experience and dedication to quality and innovative solutions in four main divisions: forestry, wildfire, heritage and geospatial. We are currently looking to add a <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">GIS Technician</span> to our company.<br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Responsibilities: </span></p>\n<p><br>As a GIS Technician you will be responsible for the following:</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Capturing, converting, editing and maintaining spatial data for multi-phase timber<br>development contracts.</li>\n<li>Spatial and tabular data entry into government corporate databases and systems.</li>\n<li>Interpreting and visualizing remote sensing data including, LiDAR, satellite and<br>drone data.</li>\n<li>Production of mapping products including; Recce Maps, Site Plans, Cruise Maps<br>and Appraisal Maps.</li>\n<li>Conducting spatial analysis in support of timber development such as MDWR<br>analysis, ECA calculations and visual impact assessments.</li>\n<li>Work with forestry planners to develop customized geospatial solutions and<br>automate repetitive tasks.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">What we are looking for: </span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Degree or diploma in Geographic Information Systems or an equivalent combination<br>of education and experience.</li>\n<li>1-2 years’ experience working on timber development contracts or with a forest<br>licensee</li>\n<li>Demonstrated experience editing, manipulating and interpretating GPS data in<br>relation to forestry cut block development.</li>\n<li>Understanding of spatial data standards and how to apply them to specific contracts.</li>\n<li>Experience working in an LRM environment, including versioning.</li>\n<li>Experience utilizing QGIS, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Web Applications.</li>\n<li>Demonstrated technical aptitude, keeping informed on the latest geospatial<br>technology and respective applications to the natural resource sector.</li>\n<li>Exceptional ability to communicate with multiple team members</li>\n<li>Demonstrated organizational skills related to data archiving, change tracking,<br>structure, and other management standards.</li>\n<li>Domain knowledge of forestry: understanding of forest management and forest<br>ecology and the ability to interpret a forest policy and management guidance in<br>spatial and quantitative analysis.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">What we offer:</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>A positive, dynamic and inclusive work environment for everyone</li>\n<li>Wage and biannual profit share based on experience, competency, safety and length of<br>service</li>\n<li>Training and professional development allowance</li>\n<li>Extended medical and dental benefits</li>\n<li>RRSP contributions after one year of service</li>\n<li>Flexible holidays and 20 cm snow rule for winter shredding</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br>Cabin is committed to LGBTQ2+ inclusion in the workplace by creating a diverse and inclusive work environment for everyone.
