Overview The Princeton University Art Museum seeks an exceptional Curriculum Support Specialist to assist with researching and teaching. Based within the Education Department, the Specialist assists with researching and teaching with the Museum collections. With opportunities to teach in the Museum galleries and study rooms, the Specialist will also provide a light review of interpretive materials. The successful candidate should have teaching experience as well as excellent communication and organizational skills. The position also entails administrative responsibilities, which include scheduling and proctoring academic class visits. The Specialist will also have other duties as assigned in support of the Art Museum’s mission. About the Museum: With a collecting history that extends back to 1755, the Princeton University Art Museum is one of the leading university art museums in the country, featuring collections that have grown to include more than 117,000 works of art ranging from ancient to contemporary art and spanning the globe. Committed to advancing Princeton’s teaching and research missions, the Art Museum also serves as a gateway to the University for visitors from around the world. The bold and welcoming new Princeton University Art Museum is open daily at the heart of Princeton’s campus. Admission is free to all. The Museum also operates Art@Bainbridge, a gallery project at 158 Nassau Street; two Museum Stores; and Mosaic restaurant. Responsibilities The Curriculum Support Specialist will assist with researching the collections and developing teaching resources. (40%) Using the teaching reservation system, the Specialist will collaborate with the Museum’s Venue Manager and Collections Associates to coordinate logistics of teaching and reservations in the Museum, including in the galleries and study rooms. (30%) The Specialist will have the opportunity to teach with the collections for Princeton University classes and other academic audiences. (20%) The Specialist will have the opportunity to review interpretive texts. (10%) Qualifications Essential Requirements Ph.D. in Art History required. 1-2 years of experience teaching at the academic level. Excellent research and writing skills. Capacity to engage audiences with a range of interests and abilities. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work with a team. Proficiency with software and digital platforms. The work location for this position is Princeton University, in person and on campus. Indicated items required with the application.
