We are part of the Hearst Corporation, the world’s leading media, entertainment, and content company, which gives us access to the most valuable data and insights, talent and audiences.
About this job
We are looking for a temporary Senior QA Engineer to help ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of web applications. In this role, you will own quality strategy across the development lifecycle, build and maintain scalable test automation, and partner closely with Delivery, Creative, Engineering to deliver high-quality user experiences. This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who is passionate about quality engineering, not just testing—someone who can balance speed and rigor in an Agile environment and elevate quality standards across the team.
What you’ll do
Quality Strategy & Execution
· Own and evolve the quality strategy for web applications, including functional, regression, exploratory, and release testing
· Translate product requirements, user stories, and designs into clear test plans and test scenarios
· Drive a shift-left testing mindset by participating in requirements and design reviews
· Perform risk-based testing to ensure critical user flows are thoroughly validated
Test Automation
· Design, implement, and maintain automated test frameworks for web applications
· Write reliable, maintainable automated tests using modern tools such as Selenium
· Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery
· Identify and reduce flaky tests, improve execution speed, and increase coverage
Manual & Exploratory Testing
· Lead exploratory testing efforts for new features and complex workflows
· Conduct cross-browser and cross-device testing (desktop and mobile)
· Validate UX and edge cases that are difficult to automate
API & Backend Testing
· Test RESTful APIs using tools like Postman or automation frameworks
· Validate data integrity and service integrations
Collaboration & Leadership
· Partner closely with Product Owners, Delivery Managers, and Engineers
· Act as a quality advocate while maintaining a pragmatic, delivery-focused approach
· Mentor junior QA engineers and contribute to team best practices
· Provide clear, actionable defect reports and root-cause analysis
Who you are
· 6+ years of experience in QA or Quality Engineering, with a strong focus on web applications
· Proven experience building and maintaining test automation frameworks
· Strong proficiency in at least one programming language used for automation: JavaScript / TypeScript, Python, or Java
· Hands-on experience with:
· Modern web automation tools (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium)
· Version control systems (Git)
· Solid understanding of:
· Web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
· REST APIs, HTTP methods, and status codes
· Testing tools and methods (Selenium Webdriver and Testrail)
· Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
· Expertise in planning and estimating QA activities required for the project within an Agile team environment.
· Ability to manage QA resources on planned activities (such as test case development, test execution, defects reporting etc.).
· Proficiency in analyzing and identifying gaps in project documentation, identifying testable/not testable areas.
· Proficiency in generating test development/execution progress reports and test result reports.
Great if you also have
· Experience with Adobe Experience Manager
· Working knowledge of web accessibility and accessibility testing tools.
· Knowledge of and/or experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar)
· Experience in automobile, tire, and auto parts markets.
