Description Recovery Network of Programs, Inc. (RNP) , is a private, non-profit, social service agency that has been serving the Greater Bridgeport Community and Fairfield County area since 1972. RNP is dedicated to helping those living with substance use, mental health disorders, and homelessness. Our mission is to restore hope, health, and well-being for individuals and families in a recovery environment that embraces compassion, dignity, and respect. First Step (Residential Detoxification Program) This is a highly structured inpatient medically monitored detoxification program, located in Bridgeport, Connecticut. This program offers individual counseling, group therapy, case management, referral services for continuing care, and medical management. First Step is a CARF accredited, DPH licensed 27 bed residential detox unit for individuals aged 18 and over struggling with addiction to alcohol, opiates and/or benzodiazepines. Hours: Schedule: 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, with one designated day from 1:00 PM–9:00 PM. CORE FUNCTIONS Conducts screening, intake, orientation, and assessment of clients to obtain information concerning substance abuse and medical history or other pertinent information. Implements therapeutic treatment using approved methods of planning, counseling, case management and crisis intervention to assist clients in overcoming substance abuse disorders and other problems. Consult with a medical doctor or other specialists concerning the treatment plan and amend the plan as directed. Provides information and education to individuals and groups concerning substance abuse and mental health and available services and resources. Refers clients to supportive services to supplement treatment and counseling. Assists with direct client care, including safety checks, laundry, passing meals, conducting smoke breaks, etc. Prepares and maintains records on assigned caseload and issues reports. Assumes all other appropriate duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor. CORE COMPETENCIES Master's degree in the behavioral sciences and two (2) years’ experience in counseling preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience. LCSW/LADC/LPC/LMFT/LMSW Knowledge of principles and techniques of counseling. Ability to gather, analyze and evaluate information pertinent to the care of clients. Knowledge of the physical, psychological, social, and economic effects of substance abuse, homelessness, medical and mental health issues. Knowledge of community resources. Considerable knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding client confidentiality. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships. Excellent communication skills. Ability to project a professional image. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES Incumbents may be required to secure professional certification and/or license. Valid Connecticut driver's license may be required.
