In fulfilling this mission, ABS leads research and develops guidance and requirements focused on the safety of implementing new technology in the marine and offshore environment.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>As a Marine/ Mechanical Engineer, you will be&nbsp;actively engaged in driving industry-leading research and development associated with machinery and systems for marine and offshore applications.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p><strong>What You Will Do:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Lead research and assess the maturity of new technologies in the marine industry related to carbon capture, CO2 transportation, non-carbon/ low carbon-based fuels, renewable energies&nbsp;including different machinery and systems etc.).&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Establish guidance and classification requirements for the marine and offshore industry on the application of new technology.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Support ABS technical community on queries regarding different onboard mechanical equipment and systems.</li>\n <li>Maintain and demonstrate thought leadership&nbsp;through technical publications and presentations.</li>\n <li>Participate in industry societies to develop and enhance technical capabilities.&nbsp;</li>\n</ul>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p><strong>What You Will Need:</strong></p>\n<p><u>Education &amp; Experience</u></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Minimum of three (3) years relevant engineering experience in the energy industry, shipyard, design/consulting company, shipping/oil company, university, or classification society.</li>\n <li>Minimum of bachelor’s degree in mechanical/ marine/ chemical/ environmental engineering&nbsp;or other related discipline; M.S. is preferred.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><u>Knowledge, Skills &amp; Abilities</u></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Knowledge of onboard machinery and systems&nbsp;including evolving technologies e.g., Carbon capturing (both pre and post combustion), CO2 transportation. The knowledge of ammonia crackers, methane reformers, methane slip, renewable energies, electrolyzer, energy saving devices etc. is a plus. &nbsp;Also, basic understanding of marine piping systems (e.g., fresh water, sea water, lubrication oil, fuel oil, compressed air, hydraulic system, cryogenics piping etc.</li>\n <li>Knowledge of general mechanical systems</li>\n <li>Awareness of alternative marine fuels, such as hydrogen, ammonia, methanol, synthetic fuel&nbsp;and biofuel etc.</li>\n <li>Awareness of fuel cells technology and application</li>\n <li>Awareness of emerging technologies and trends in the marine industry including&nbsp;emerging engines, fuels, power generation and energy savings.</li>\n <li>Strong communicator with excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent command of the English language.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to work well with others.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p><strong>Reporting Relationships</strong>:</p>\n<p>Reports, as assigned, to a Managing Principal Engineer</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p><strong>Working Conditions:</strong><br>\n Work is primarily sedentary.
