    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Position:                              Security Officer                                Classification:                     Short-term – Full-time</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Department:                      Fairgrounds                                        Reports to:                           Fair Manager</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Posting Date:                     5/1/2026                                      Rate of Pay:                         $16.00/hour</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Position Schedule:          Tue. – Sat., September 01, 2026 – September 05, 2026, 8-hour shifts</span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Job Summary:</span></p>\n<p>This position exists to maintain a safe and secure environment for customers and employees of the Ravalli County Fair.  Security officer will patrol and monitor premises.</p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Supervisory Responsibilities:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>None</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Travel Required:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>None</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Duties/Responsibilities:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Patrols and monitors an assigned area; obtains help by sounding alarm.</li>\n<li>Contacts law enforcement or fire department in case of an emergency.</li>\n<li>Circulate among visitors, patrons, or employees to preserve order and protect property.</li>\n<li>Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures; restraining trespassers.</li>\n<li>Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities</li>\n<li>Maintains environment by monitoring and setting building and equipment controls.</li>\n<li>Maintains organization’s stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements.</li>\n<li>After business hours, checks doors, windows, and gates to ensure the property is secure.</li>\n<li>Investigates reports of suspicious activity on the property.</li>\n<li>Reasonably detains persons suspected of criminal activity until law enforcement arrives.</li>\n<li>Escorts trespassers, and other unwelcome parties off the premises.</li>\n<li>Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Required Skills/Abilities: </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must be dependable and capable of exercising good judgment.</li>\n<li>Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.</li>\n<li>Must have good written and verbal communication skills (receiving directives).</li>\n<li>Understand and follow oral and written instructions.</li>\n<li>Authoritative verbal communication skills.</li>\n<li>Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.</li>\n<li>Communicate orally with co-workers and the general public in a one-to-one setting.</li>\n<li>Learn job-related material primarily through oral instruction, observation and research.</li>\n<li>Work cooperatively with Board Members, County employees and the general public.</li>\n<li>Be safety conscious and work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.</li>\n<li>Recognize that the fairgrounds are a public facility with multiple events happening at any one time and that the public is our client.</li>\n<li>Maintain a professional appearance and attitude suitable for the job and working with the public at all times.</li>\n<li>At times the position will require the performance of other essential functions depending upon work location, assignment, or shift.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Preferred Education and Experience:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>High school diploma or equivalent.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Additional Eligibility Requirements:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must be able to pass a background check</li>\n<li>Previous experience a plus, but not required.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Work Environment:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Primarily outdoors or in various fairground buildings.</li>\n<li>Work in different weather conditions with exposure to the elements.</li>\n<li>Travel over rough, uneven or rocky surfaces.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Physical Requirements: </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to patrol the property and access areas quickly.</li>\n<li>Move heavy objects (70 to100 pounds) short distances (50 feet or less).</li>\n<li>Bend or stoop repeatedly over time.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">EEO Statement:</span></p>\n<p>Ravalli County is an equal employment opportunity employer (EEO).  Ravalli County does not refuse employment or discriminate in compensation, or the other terms, conditions, and privileges of employment based upon race, color, national origin, age, physical or mental disability, marital status, pregnancy, religion, creed, sex, sexual orientation, political beliefs, genetic information, or veteran’s status.</p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Other Duties:</span></p>\n<p>Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.  Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.</p>",
