Peer Counselor Supervisor has an essential role in safety management for the youth and families served, having responsibility to supervise peers in their assessment and support of at-risk youth in their homes. Supervisor works with family and youth peers to provide clinical training and quality assurance for all peer services including: advocacy for youth needs, assisting youth in verbalizing areas of physical and emotional risk and communicating those risks to their clinical team. Responsibilities JOB SUMMARY: Oversee/Supervise team of Peer Counselors serving in high-risk behavioral health interventions (families). Provide support for safety by Identifying high-risk, clinically complex circumstances involving the Peer Counselors and notify necessary stakeholders (Clinical Supervisor, Manager/Director). Provide peer supervision to assess acuity and immediate risk/need and with clinical team, determine the most appropriate response. In collaboration with the Clinical Supervisor, Therapist, Peers and other key team members, consult and determine the role and participation of a Peer involvement with a family. Directly supervise peer staff in the safety planning process by providing staff support to share vital information in the safety assessment of children youth and their families by providing consultation, assessment, and support to therapists and clinical supervisors involved with high-risk, difficult to engage clinical situations. Orient peer staff to their role in behavioral health service provision; provide training in the work and value of the Peer role to clinicians, leadership members, and community partners. Directly support engagement of youth and families in behavioral health services, must be highly skilled at connecting story as a former consumer of mental health service with clinical treatment, supervise Peers in this activity and ensure Peer’s ability to communicate their position to the family and the clinical team. Assess and review the Peer Partner’s behavioral health role in the clinical treatment of a child or youth, ensure work and documentation is consistent with the youth’s identified diagnosis and treatment goal. Supervise Peers to assess service activities and therapeutic options for families they serve that will contribute to their healing and support and assist the peer to communicate that information to the treatment team. As part of the clinical treatment team, review and analyze the Treatment plan and make suggestions for improvement/ modifications related to peer participation. Assure Therapist is contacted for coordination of behavioral health care with peer supports when needed. Provide leadership for peers to actively participate in team meetings when needed and ensure family voice is heard throughout their therapeutic intervention. Actively participate as part of the Site Clinical Leadership Team, including attending weekly consultation and clinical treatment team reviews. Provide hands on field coaching and mentoring to Peers, including responding to crisis situations whenever needed. Serve as Peer Counselor in higher risk/more complex clinical interventions. Provide community leadership for peer led recovery services by actively working in the community to articulate the peer role in community meetings and with important stakeholders Attend peer supervisor, community, mental health and on-going trainings on an as-needed basis. Qualifications WHAT WE ARE SEEKING IN A CANDIDATE: Certified Peer Counselor Credential (per WAC 388-865-0107). Lived experience as youth who was involved in the mental health or other child-serving systems or as a Parent of a special-needs child who has been a recipient of community services within the past ten years. Age 21 or older per DSHS requirements. High school diploma/GED. At least 1 year of experience providing peer support services. Availability to work flexible hours (some evenings, nights, weekends). Demonstrated ability to assess and respond in crisis situations. Leadership qualities/ demonstrated leadership ability. To teach de-escalation skills as well as or to respond in person, as needed. Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication. Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and automobile insurance with acceptable driving record. Pass background check through DSHS and Washington State Patrol. Washington State Counselor Registration (HIV/AIDS training required). Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team. Support and uphold the mission, beliefs and values of Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing services. Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi-cultural situations. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: AA or B.A. in social sciences, social services or mental health field background. Three years relevant experience with social services and mental health agencies to working with people who need assistance. Assure Therapist is contacted for coordination of behavioral health care with peer supports when needed.</li>\n <li>Provide leadership for peers to actively participate in team meetings when needed and ensure family voice is heard throughout their therapeutic intervention.</li>\n <li>Actively participate as part of the Site Clinical Leadership Team, including attending weekly consultation and clinical treatment team reviews.</li>\n <li>Provide hands on field coaching and mentoring to Peers, including responding to crisis situations whenever needed.</li>\n <li>Serve as Peer Counselor in higher risk/more complex clinical interventions.</li>\n <li>Provide community leadership for peer led recovery services by actively working in the community to articulate the peer role in community meetings and with important stakeholders</li>\n <li>Attend peer supervisor, community, mental health and on-going trainings on an as-needed basis.</li>\n <li>Other duties as assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><em>A full job description may be shared with applicants chosen to interview. </em></p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>WHAT WE ARE SEEKING IN A CANDIDATE:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Certified Peer Counselor Credential (per WAC 388-865-0107).</li>\n <li>Lived experience as youth who was involved in the mental health or other child-serving systems or as a Parent of a special-needs child who has been a recipient of community services within the past ten years.</li>\n <li>Age 21 or older per DSHS requirements.</li>\n <li>High school diploma/GED.</li>\n <li>At least 1 year of experience providing peer support services.</li>\n <li>Availability to work flexible hours (some evenings, nights, weekends).</li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to assess and respond in crisis situations.</li>\n <li>Leadership qualities/ demonstrated leadership ability.</li>\n <li>To teach de-escalation skills as well as or to respond in person, as needed.</li>\n <li>Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication.</li>\n <li>Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and automobile insurance with acceptable driving record.</li>\n <li>Pass background check through DSHS and Washington State Patrol.</li>\n <li>Washington State Counselor Registration (HIV/AIDS training required).</li>\n <li>Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.</li>\n <li>Support and uphold the mission, beliefs and values of Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing services.</li>\n <li>Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi-cultural situations.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>AA or B.A. in social sciences, social services or mental health field background.</li>\n <li>Three years relevant experience with social services and mental health agencies to working with people who need assistance.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>ABOUT VANCOUVER </strong></p>\n<p>Vancouver, nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Cascade Mountains, on the north bank of the Columbia River with sweeping views of Mt.
