Job Description
Position Overview: Novolex is seeking a results-driven Production Unit Manager to oversee assigned department(s). The Production Unit Manager is responsible for leading a large team, ensuring safety and quality standards, and achieving production and cost efficiency goals. This role is ideal for a strong leader with a passion for continuous improvement and a deep understanding of manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and direction to assigned departments or production lines to meet daily, weekly, and long-term production goals.
Oversee and manage a workforce of 150+ employees, including both salaried and hourly staff.
Plan, schedule, track, and monitor production and operational costs to ensure unit performance aligns with established objectives.
Ensure compliance with safety protocols, lead safety programs, resolve safety-related issues, and conduct thorough incident investigations.
Recruit, hire, train, and retain talent; coach team members and administer corrective actions when necessary to maintain a productive workforce.
Implement and enforce best practices and company policies to maintain operational consistency.
Compile and maintain timely and accurate reports on key production metrics such as efficiency, downtime, scrap, labor, and cost.
Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to provide clear updates and feedback.
Lead and support Lean Manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement projects. Drive employee engagement through team building and leadership development activities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in industrial management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
Strong leadership, decision-making, and team-building skills.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years’ manufacturing experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
Skills:
Proven knowledge of statistical methods, process analysis, and continuous improvement techniques.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills across all levels of the organization.
Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and tools.
