Description
Solano Irrigation District is seeking candidates to join the M&I Operations team as a Shift Operator, Water Treatment Plant . We are accepting candidates who possess a California State Water Resources Control Board certification in Treatment at level T3, or higher; and a certification in Distribution at level D2 or higher.
The Shift Operator operates water treatment plants and are responsible for the water quality and monitoring of all district facilities that deliver and/or distribute potable water. They are responsible for scheduling and collecting water samples for analysis and takes active action in customer service and public relations.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They should demonstrate initiative in addressing issues related to water quality and water facilities. A proficiency in reading and interpreting gauges and recording devices, as well as conducting minor and major plant repair work using a variety of tools is essential. This position requires the candidate to act as a “first responder” during emergency situations and be available to respond to afterhours events. As such, the employee must live within 30 minutes’ travel time of the District’s boundaries.

Schedule
The regular work hours for this position are Monday to Friday: 8-hr day shift (6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.) with rotating standby duty & weekend work.
The standby duty and weekend work will be assigned on a rotational basis among team members to ensure fair distribution of responsibilities.
Regular Work Hours:
Monday to Friday: 8-hr day shift (6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.) with rotating standby duty & weekend work
Standby Duty:
Monday to Sunday (Standby): The designated employee will be on standby duty from (6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.) the following day. During this time, the employee must be available to respond to any urgent issues or emergencies that may arise outside of regular business hours.
Weekend Work:
Saturday and Sunday: The employee is scheduled to work on both days from (6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.) Responsibilities include monitoring operations, responding to any incidents, and ensuring the smooth running of critical tasks.
Note: The standby duty and weekend work will be assigned on a rotational basis among the team members to ensure fair distribution of responsibilities.
Salary Information
Salary Range: 150 -160 ($44.19 - $60.82 per hour)
Salary placement is based on the number of qualifying licenses and certifications held. Candidates with the base certifications (T3 and D2) will be placed at the entry level.
Qualifying Licenses and Certifications:

Possession of:
Base certifications (T3 and D2) = $44.19 - $53.72 (Range 150)
Base certifications + 1 additional certification = $47.05 - $57.19 (Range 155)
Base certifications + 2 additional certifications = $50.03 - $60.82 (Range 160)
Qualifications
Any combination of training, education and experience which demonstrates possession of the knowledge and abilities stated above and the ability to perform the duties of the position.
Typical qualifying entrance background is:
Possession of a California State Water Resources Control Board Treatment Level T-3; and Distribution Level D-2 certifications.
Two (2) years of work experience performing the functions of a water treatment plant operator; AND graduation from high school or equivalent.
Incumbent must possess a valid California Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record to maintain insurability.

Benefits
Retirement - Solano Irrigation District participates in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS).
Classic CalPERS Members - benefits include equivalency of 2%@60 formula with the following provisions: final compensation is the monthly average of highest 36 consecutive months; and credit for unused sick leave. Employees pay 7% Employee Contribution.
New CalPERS Members – benefits include equivalency of 2%@62 formula with the following provisions: three-year final compensation period used to calculate the average final compensation; and credit for unused sick leave. Employee pays 6.75% Employee Contribution.
Retiree Health Insurance – Employees are eligible for retiree health insurance benefits following 10 years of full-time service.
Deferred Compensation – 457 plan available, with Employer match up to $100 per pay period.
Health Insurance – Plans include Anthem Blue Cross HMO and PPO plans and a Kaiser Permanente plan. The District pays a portion of the premium for employee and dependent coverage.
Dental Insurance – Dental provider is Delta Dental. District pays full premium for both employee and dependents.
Vision Insurance – Vision provider is VSP. District pays full premium for both employee and dependents.
Life Insurance – Benefit is equal to 2x annual base salary rounded to the next higher $1,000, up to a maximum of $300,000. Premium is paid by the District.
Educational Assistance – District reimburses up to $850 per calendar year for eligible expenses.
Flexible Spending Account – Tax deferred payments for dependent care, health care, and certain benefit premiums.
Vacation and Sick Leave – Vacation is accrued bi-weekly at 80 hours per year during the first year. Employees accrue 12 days of sick leave per year, calculated bi-weekly.
Holidays – 11 scheduled holidays and 2 floating holidays per calendar year.
