    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">YOUTH TUMBLING INSTRUCTOR</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Part-time, nonexempt, non-benefitted, non-represented position</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">APPLICATION CLOSING DATE:</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Open to internal applicants only through 5PM on 5/19/26</span></p>\n<p>All applications due by 5PM on 7/3/2026</p>\n<p>Anticipated start date: 9/11/2026</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Job Description:</span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">General Statement of Duties</span>: Demonstrates and instructs classes and sessions for a variety of skill levels; does related work as required.<br> <br><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Distinguishing Features of the Class</span>: An employee in this classification is responsible for preparing and instructing specified classes and sessions. Work is performed under the supervision of a supervisor who reviews work primarily on the basis of direct observation and feedback from participants. Instructors work closely with Recreation Coordinator on planning, development, class evaluation and implementation. Supervision is not a responsibility of position in this classification.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Examples Of Essential Duties Performed:</span></p>\n<p>(Illustrative only. Any single position of a class will not necessarily involve all of the duties listed, and many positions will involve duties that are not listed.)</p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Plan, organize and instruct education and skill building classes and sessions through specific area of focus.</li>\n<li>Provide class instruction and demonstrate knowledge, skill and ability for specified class or session subject. </li>\n<li>Design and implement class curriculum, assist students on practice plan and varied projects.  </li>\n<li>Collaborate with Coordinator/Supervisor staff to develop, plan and schedule classes. </li>\n<li>Practice safe work habits and maintains a safe environment. Monitor participant safety during class and if necessary, provide first aid.</li>\n<li>Address program specific risk management/safety issues. Follows standard procedure for emergencies for the facility where class is held. Complete and submit patron incident reports. </li>\n<li>Greet students as they enter the class area and maintain positive and professional relationship with students. </li>\n<li>Provide excellent internal and external customer service. Offer a positive experience for patrons and co-workers. </li>\n<li>Distribute program evaluations to participants. Maintains confidentiality and respects patron privacy during evaluation process. Submit evaluations to supervisors and remain open to constructive feedback. Review feedback and utilize information to enhance program. </li>\n<li>Ensures all participants are signed in and maintain appropriate records regarding class participation. </li>\n<li>Communicate with staff regarding facility, equipment and supply needs. Request purchase of supplies, coordinating expenditures with District policies. </li>\n<li>Monitor participant behavior to ensure an environment where everyone feels welcomed, included, safe and respected while participating. </li>\n<li>Respond professionally to questions, suggestions, and concerns from participants and staff regarding programs, activities, policies and practices. </li>\n<li>Remain personally accountable in seeking resolution to misunderstandings, conflicts, or performance of self or others. Respond positively to correction and accept direction. </li>\n<li>Attend staff orientations and trainings, as required.</li>\n<li>Perform other job-related duties as assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Knowledge</span>: Considerable knowledge in specified area of focus for continued education and skill building; effective classroom management; safety and sanitation guidelines. Principles of group dynamics and group interaction and emergency procedures and accident site management.<br> <br><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Skills</span>: Instruct and demonstrate competency in specified field; effectively communicate class curriculum with students. Follow and give instructions in a courteous and professional manner. Interpret, explain, follow and apply District policies, keep accurate records and establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, other staff members, program participants and the general public.<br> <br><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Abilities</span>: Communicate directions/ instructions both verbally and by demonstration; observe and individually monitor students; modify activities for individual needs; ability to provide good customer service in challenging situations. Ability to administer First Aid and CPR and follow emergency procedures. Identify and prevent hazards and maintain safe environment. <br> <br><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Physical Demands of the Position</span>:  While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, bend, kneel and stoop. The position requires mobility including the ability to move materials weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted on a regular basis such as storing, setting up and cleaning up equipment and supplies. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 75% of the work period. Reasonable accommodation will be evaluated on an individual basis and depends, in part, on the specific requirements for the job, the limitations related to the disability and the ability of the hiring department to accommodate the limitation.<br> <br><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Personal Protective Equipment</span>:<span> </span>Access to nitrile gloves for the administration of First Aid.<br><br><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Required Experience and Training</span>: One year of experience working closely with children and the public; OR any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the above-described duties.<br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Preferred Experience and Training</span>: Two years of experience working closely with children and the public; OR any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the above-described duties.
