Transform metal pieces into functional elements that meet the guidelines of the project by cutting materials and using fabrication techniques. Set-up, assemble, or disassemble job-specific machinery, equipment, iron or metal that includes selecting proper gear and equipment based on the size, weight, dimensions, and area of movement that is necessary to safely secure machinery, tools, and equipment for installation, disassembly, relocation and/or transportation. Control, manipulate, fabricate, and repair machinery, iron/metal and support structures. Requires the use of hand, flag, and/or verbal signals to communicate to operators and others. Millwrights may drive a commercial vehicle, perform maintenance or welding/fabrication functions, assist in warehouse activities, or perform other tasks as necessary when not completing millwright duties.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;<strong><u>Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:</u></strong></p><ul><li>Must be mechanically proficient and have his/her own tools that are appropriate for this trade.&nbsp;</li><li>Installs and maintains machinery and equipment using hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools.&nbsp;</li><li>Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.&nbsp;</li><li>Insert shims, adjust tension on nuts and bolts, or position parts, using hand tools and measuring instruments, to set specified clearances between moving and stationary parts.&nbsp;</li><li>Align machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, levels, lasers, and plumb bobs.&nbsp;</li><li>Level/ establish centerline, using straightedge, levels, and transit.&nbsp;</li><li>Shrink-fit bushings, sleeves, rings, liners, gears, and wheels to specified items, using portable gas heating equipment.&nbsp;</li><li>Dismantle machinery and equipment for shipment to installation site, usually performing installation and maintenance work as part of team.&nbsp;</li><li>Construct foundation for machines, using hand tools and building materials such as wood, cement, grout and/ or steel.&nbsp;</li><li>Replace defective parts of machine or adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts, adjust equipment to ensure optimal performance and replace worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts.&nbsp;</li><li>Ensure assigned work is understood prior to commencing.&nbsp;</li><li>Visually inspect and test materials to ensure safety and reliability.</li><li>Align, level, and anchor machinery, equipment,&nbsp;</li><li>Use hand and/or power tools to attach loads to rigging to provide support or prepare for moving. Able to closely follow instruction and articulate instructions to others.</li><li>Visualize or predict the outcome of the job by using deductive and inductive reasoning.</li><li>Ability to use precision measuring tools and equipment including hand, power, and pneumatic tools. Must be able to read or use a tape measure, levels, use welding and cutting tools, as necessary.</li><li>Correctly estimate weight-bearing ability of tools and equipment.</li><li>Reading comprehension to include blueprints, schematics, or technical manuals as required.</li><li>Perform mathematical functions including fractions, decimals, and percents. A strong understanding of geometry and/or algebra may be necessary.</li><li>Familiar with various hand or flag signals including the use and meaning.</li><li>Willing to learn, know, and follow safety requirements, including the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment.</li><li>Valid driver&rsquo;s license may be required for certain positions.&nbsp;</li></ul><p>&nbsp;<strong><u>Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:</u></strong></p><p>This is very physical, hands-on work. A Millwright must be able to perform General Physical Activities &mdash; activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials up to 50 pounds. Must have the ability to work off the ground at varying heights, and not be affected by moving machinery or parts.
