The Floral Utility Clerk is responsible to ensure customer service is provided through maintaining a safe and efficient operation while adhering to Company policies, procedures and standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides customer service and maintains positive customer relations through the proper handling of customer questions, comments, request and complaints. Effectively works in a diverse team environment in a proficient and friendly manner.
Ensures display presentation and stock levels are maintained as well as watering product. Follows direction, perform program execution and merchandising of product. Handle and prepare floral product. Understanding of potted and cut plants (floral). In addition to outdoor floral, balloon program, and giftware.
Able to communicate professionally with potential clients and business's for events.
Handles merchandise ensuring quality, minimizing damages and markdowns. Provides substitutions and ensures price integrity including price changes. Provide customers with pricing information of each arrangement, cut floral, potted, and giftware. Ensuring all instructions regarding required arrangement are properly completed.
Performs general cleanup duties such as cleaning spills, counter and display fixtures to ensure neat and organized department. Responsible for keeping the sales floor area clean from cardboard and debris.
Performs duties following established Occupational Health & Safety, and Environmental regulations and policies to ensure the health and safety of all staff and customers.
Ensures the proper care, use and maintenance of equipment and tools. Reports repair requirements to the Produce Supervisor, Produce or Duty Manager.
Responsible for all aspects of ordering merchandise and supplies. Inform customers about floral arrangement timelines.
Responsible for all aspects of receiving including reviewing / verifying invoices, returns, transfers, claims and proper storage of products.
Responsible for shrink control including reviewing weekly shrink reports, working with Produce supervisor and Manager on managing shrink in all aspects of the floral department.
Performing, organizing and conducting inventory as well as ordering duties.
Positive communication skills with vendors
Ability to build and maintain displays for seasonal events such as outdoor floral, Valentines Day, Mother’s day etc.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
Training others to do the Floral Utility Clerk job.
Understanding of all areas within the floral department including cut floral, potted plants, outdoor floral, balloon and gift ware.
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Grade 9 or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE:
Related floral retail experience, including the provision of customer service.
Ability to customize floral arrangements to the requests of customers.
Must pass in-house Floral Arrangement testing
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Floral designer certificate or equivalent experience in floral arranging.
Receiving, counter set-up and plant product knowledge. Program execution and merchandising of product.
Knowledge of ordering merchandise and supplies, and related procedures.
