We seek employees who bring different and innovative ways of seeing the world and solving problems.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The pharmacy intern program at Fred Hutch is a structured, 3-4 year continuous program designed to assure that the intern, upon completion of the intern program in conjunction with an accredited PharmD program, will be able to carry-out all of the functions required to perform distribution as well as supportive clinical duties in an ambulatory oncology setting. The interns will work closely with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy residents, and other healthcare professionals. Each year of the program has designated expectations and goals that build upon the last and correspond with each professional year of pharmacy school. By the end of the internship it is expected but not limited that interns be trained in the following areas sterile compounding, pyxis, investigational drug services. Interns will receive clinical exposure and education that will facilitate the development of the critical thinking skills necessary for contemporary practice.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Sterile Compounding</li>\n <li>Pyxis Refilling</li>\n <li>Investigational Drug Services</li>\n <li>Retail Pharmacy Dispensing</li>\n <li>Counseling Patients</li>\n <li>Prepares, packages, and labels medication in an accurate and efficient manner.</li>\n <li>Charging and billing functions</li>\n <li>Operates CII safe and follows all controlled substance procedures</li>\n <li>Filling and documentation of pyxis, emergency/code boxes and code trays</li>\n <li>Monitors stock for expiration dates and removes outdates</li>\n <li>Medication reconciliation</li>\n <li>Delivery of patient specific medications to infusion or other areas of the clinic</li>\n <li>Other pharmacy related duties in accordance with regulations under Washing State Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Required:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Enrolled in University of Washington School of Pharmacy</li>\n <li>Pharmacy Intern License</li>\n <li>Time Management</li>\n <li>Travel</li>\n <li>Ability to communicate verbally in person, on the phone, and in writing in a clear, concise and professional manner</li>\n <li>Accurate and aseptic IV admixture preparation</li>\n <li>Able to perform basic pharmaceutical calculations</li>\n <li>Ability to use a mouse, navigate computer programs, enter data into computer systems accurately and efficiently.</li>\n <li>Familiarity with the generic names of drugs along with the basic indication</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Pre Employment Drug Screening:</strong> </p>\n<p>As a condition of employment Fred Hutch conducts pre-employment drug testing for this pharmacy role. All offers of employment in the pharmacy department are conditional on the applicant successfully completing and passing a drug test in accordance with the Fred Hutch policy. </p>The hourly pay range for this position is from $26.50 to $29.95, which includes the per diem differential, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.  Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position.
