Position Summary
Works under direct supervision to prepare the judges for each Friday’s motion docket.
Pay Grade: 41H
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; AND Enrolled in an accredited law school as at least a third-year law student. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
Duties and Responsibilities
Prepares a spreadsheet of the motions indicating the nature of the motion and the attorneys on both sides. Meets with the Judge each week to discuss the upcoming motion docket for the division and get any special assignments related to upcoming motions. Review all documents related to the motions, research the issues, and prepare briefs if needed. Contacts attorneys and self-represented litigants with questions and with instructions for their court appearance. Meets with the Judge and courtroom clerk to discuss any strikes or updates. Conducts additional research as requested. Performs other related duties as required or directed.
KSAs
Excellent writing and research skills. Skilled in Microsoft Office and Westlaw.
