Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities List the job’s essential or most important functions and responsibilities. Include all important aspects for the job whether performed daily weekly, monthly, or annually and any that occur at irregular intervals.
It is the responsibility of this position to ensure good work practices, productivity & process compliance within his/her designated stations while also performing as a “hands-on” technician. The Team Leader is responsible for conducting ongoing “PROCESS AUDITS” to ensure constant compliance to correct & determined processing & construction within his/her area of responsibility. The Team Leader works to maintain quality, efficiency, safety and controls labor within their specific group/groups designated to him/her. The Team Leader is expected to “LEAD BY EXAMPLE” in the areas of attendance, behavior, safety, quality and productivity (an example - to be free from any and all disciplinary actions within the Pursuit “progressive disciplinary process”). It is not required or authorized, in this position, to perform progressive discipline. It is however required that the Team Leader confronts behavior that is not in compliance with Pursuit policy & reports deviation from policy immediately! This position is also considered a training platform for future advancement possibilities to open Group Leader Positions
Other duties may be assigned.
Ensure that all associates work safe!
Provide & control the usage of PPE in their Department-ensuring safe practices
Ensures that all associates are safely removed from harm’s way during heavy lifting, line moves and operation of fork lifts & mules.
Ensure that associates comply to all policies, codes & specified procedures
Ensure that all associates put safety first in everything they do throughout the day
Communicate all necessary Company performance metrics & information
Maintain scheduled associate break periods to the specified lengths of time and within the time window provided. (all within same team, take breaks together)
Always encourages open communication & promotes our “open door ” policy.
Works to complete all duties on schedule and always informs Group Leader when additional resources are required to maintain scheduled work
Maintains a clean work area daily (observes clean-up designations)
Keeps tools & equipment clean & orderly daily
Diffuses conflicts between associates by separating & escorting him/her out of the work area to a private area for resolution with the Group Leader
Complete daily safety walk through especially regarding fire safety
Always provide praise for good work behavior and facilitates progressive disciplinary action, with Group Leader, when poor cooperation and poor compliance to policy are apparent.
Always ensures that work instructions & procedures are followed, and no short cuts are taken. Always verifies that ISPCS and daily log sheets are filled out correctly and in a timely manner.
Always promote continuous improvement with all your associates
Ensure that associates maintain a steady pace of work but never allow anyone to hurry as more injuries occur when hurrying. Ensures that associates remain productive throughout shift.
Actively attends Schedule Attainment meetings
Actively participates in all safety Thursdays and departmental safety inspections (1). Is also responsible for (5) safety observations and (3) safety chalk talks monthly.
Completes scheduled equipment start-ups, shut-downs & scheduled equipment PMs, if applicable.
Encourages and promotes the use of our “CAR” system for needed changes. Anyone can feel out a CAR to submit to the appropriate Group Leader.
Maintains professional appearance
Always checks the Team’s work for accuracy & good quality
Informs their Teams and motivates them to complete all warranty & quality goals
Ensures that all associates participate in daily stretches and are beginning work no later than 15 minutes after scheduled shift start. (no lingering in break room)
Ensures & sustains “5S” activities within his/her department
Always communicates to their customer
Sustains best practices within his/her departments such as but not inclusive of:
Use of mil gauges where required
Proper gun maintenance
Ensures off-part triggering of the gun
Spot checks catalyst flow & consistency on all guns
Spot checks gel coat thicknesses on all booths
Ensures on-time lamination starts regarding gel coat timely completions
Verifies accurate & truthful information in ISPCS sign offs
Works closely with lam office to complete replacement parts & ship-outs in a timely manner (15 day turn around for ship outs)
Utilizes strobe light before gel coating daily to validate catalyst dispersion
Completes gun calibrations and observes good catalyst dispersion in test shots
Ensure correct gel coat agitation procedures
Ensure all gel coat used is within shelf life and approved
Ensure that proper tip size is always used for each part specific application
Ensure all operators apply gel coat to the proper color/manufacturer specific coverage
Qualifications
Qualified in all four spray booths
General knowledge and understanding of required power tools
Must be able to understand and execute top quality
Must be able to pass the strength/stress test and drug/alcohol screening contingent to the hiring process
Job requires standing and working in and around boats/molds throughout the entire day
Must work efficiently and in the safest manner possible, following all safety regulations at all time
