    "description": "<p><span style=\"color: rgb(185, 34, 21); font-size: 14pt; font-weight: bold\">The Opportunity</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Aptos, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: normal\">The Counsellor is responsible for ensuring the safety, care and enjoyment of all the registrants in the 2026 Summer Hockey Camps at the Bell Sensplex (Kanata), and/or Richcraft Sensplex (Gloucester), and/or Cavanagh Sensplex (Kinburn).</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Aptos, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: normal\">This is a contract position for 2026 Summer months.</span></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(185, 34, 21); font-size: 14pt; font-weight: bold\">Key Responsibilities</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Ongoing</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Responsible for ensuring the safety, enjoyment and care of the campers</li>\n<li>Lead and supervise activities such as, but not limited to:\n<ul>\n<li>On-ice and off-ice hockey development</li>\n<li>Classroom sessions aimed to grow participants skills in teamwork, problem solving etc.</li>\n<li>Off-ice workout routines</li>\n<li>Outdoor sport activities</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n<li>Manage relationships between campers, parents in a professional manner</li>\n<li>Responsible for following policies and schedules set out by Development Programs Coordinator/Camp Supervisor (e.g. signing in and out procedures, schedule of activities, etc.)</li>\n<li>Other duties as assigned by the Development Programs Coordinator/Camp Supervisor</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Health &amp; Safety Responsibilities and Accountabilities</span></p>\n<p>Responsible for ensuring that all areas covered by Occupational Health &amp; Safety Act (OHSA) are adhered to, specifically:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Working in compliance with the provisions of the OHSA, regulations and internal policies and procedures</li>\n<li>Using or wearing protective equipment, devises or clothing when required</li>\n<li>Reporting any missing or defective equipment or protective device which could endanger himself or herself or another team member</li>\n<li>Reporting any contravention of the OHSA, regulations or SSE policies and procedures</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Training</span></p>\n<p>Responsible for completing on-line training modules as required, including, but not limited to:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability - Customer Service Standards Training</li>\n<li>IASR: Information and Communications Standards</li>\n<li>Understanding Human Rights Training</li>\n<li>Ontario Worker Health &amp; Safety Awareness</li>\n<li>Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System</li>\n<li>Violence and Harassment in the Workplace</li>\n</ul>\n<p>May also be required to attend on-site training sessions as scheduled.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(185, 34, 21); font-size: 14pt; font-weight: bold\">Qualifications (what we look for)</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience playing hockey at a high level is required.</li>\n<li>Able to work flexible hours during the day, Monday-Friday.</li>\n<li>Able to work under pressure and adapt to changing environments.</li>\n<li>Must be comfortable and enjoy working with children. Patience with children is essential.</li>\n<li>Previous child-care experience and/or Summer Camp counseling experience an asset.</li>\n<li>Professional, courteous demeanor.</li>\n<li>Strong organizational skills.</li>\n<li>Excellent communication skills (written and oral); bilingual (French &amp; English) preferred.</li>\n<li>Strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.</li>\n<li>Bilingualism (French &amp; English) is an asset.</li>\n<li>Must be a team player.</li>\n<li>Must be at least 15 years of age.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><br></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(185, 34, 21); font-size: 14pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Who We Are</span> </span></p>\n<p>The Sensplex Facilities, an affiliate of the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club, are Ottawa’s premier destinations for hockey, sports, and community events.
