Opportunity Information
Sutter Medical Group (SMG) is seeking a Pediatric Intensivist Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our collaborative and close‑knit Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) team in Sacramento, CA. This role is ideal for a dedicated advanced practice provider who thrives in a high‑acuity environment, values teamwork, and wants to be part of a department that truly feels like family.
About the PICU
20 total beds , divided into:
10 Pediatric CVICU beds
10 PICU beds
Average daily census: 16–17 patients
Acuity includes a diverse mix of medical and cardiac critical care patients
Strong multidisciplinary collaboration with physicians, nursing, respiratory therapy, and ancillary teams
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU and CVICU
Perform assessments, develop and implement treatment plans, and manage complex medical conditions
Collaborate closely with intensivists, cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, and other subspecialty teams
Participate in procedures, bedside rounds, and care coordination with families
Contribute positively to a supportive, team‑oriented department culture
Qualifications
Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
Acute-care pediatric certification required
2-year of pediatric critical care experience preferred
Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment
Strong communication and collaboration skills
