Substitute Instructional Providers may work at different sites throughout the region and receive their assignments based on their availability. They will be called upon to fill in for a needed assignment, working directly with an assigned class of approximately 20-25 students, acting as a positive adult role model, coach, and mentor.</p>\n<p><strong>Hours:</strong> Mon-Fri</p>\n<p>Morning Shift - 6:15am-10:15am</p>\n<p>Afternoon Shift - 12:30pm - 6:00pm</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:</strong></p>\n<p>Positions in this classification are distinguished from other positions in that these apply to an afterschool program setting, and the duties are specific to the district partner’s Expanded Learning Program requirements. Incumbents in this position will implement program activities and instruction to TK-12 students that have been established for the group for which they are providing coverage. Employees assume responsibility for a variety of duties assigned in conjunction with the program requirements.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Work with and instruct TK-12 students individually and/or in small and large groups, while maintaining appropriate program ratios.</li>\n <li>Implement effective classroom management, discipline, and instructional strategies.</li>\n <li>Set up activities daily; prepare and duplicate materials and operate instructional equipment.</li>\n <li>Monitor and evaluate the instruction and the students’ progress.</li>\n <li>Maintain daily after-school attendance sign-in/sign-out log and other records as required.</li>\n <li>Maintain the classroom or learning facility in a clean, organized, and healthful manner; storage of materials is required daily.</li>\n <li>Supervise students in and out of the classroom during various after-school activities.</li>\n <li>Maintain and support parent communication and involvement.</li>\n <li>Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.</li>\n <li>Serve as a positive adult role model for children in the program through appropriate dress, speech, and attitude.</li>\n <li>Provide homework assistance, academic enrichment, and physical activity, using curriculum and materials provided by the program.</li>\n <li>Create an engaging environment that fosters a sense of belonging that kids want to be in.</li>\n <li>Support students in making positive behavior choices and take disciplinary measures when appropriate.</li>\n <li>Engage children and youth by following, implementing, and assisting in creating lesson plans as needed.</li>\n <li>Promote positive interactions between volunteers and students in accordance with child safety guidelines.</li>\n <li>Participate in staff development activities.</li>\n <li>Arrive punctually in order to meet responsibilities in site startup and assignments.</li>\n <li>Assist in keeping the site clean, including cleaning tables, mopping, and vacuuming.</li>\n <li>Assist daily with snack preparation, serving, and cleanup.</li>\n <li>Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality in staff, student, and volunteer matters.</li>\n <li>Be prepared to fully implement the lesson plans that have been scheduled for the day you are assigned to cover a shift.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:</strong></p>\n<p><strong>KNOWLEDGE OF:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Curriculum and instructional strategies appropriate to the assigned responsibility.</li>\n <li>Correct oral and written usage of English.</li>\n <li>Basic grammar, spelling, punctuation, and math.</li>\n <li>Simple record-keeping and filing techniques.</li>\n <li>Diversity of community, city, and school District cultures and languages.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>ABILITY TO:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Demonstrate oral and written proficiency in English.</li>\n <li>Implement effective instructional after-school activities in the classroom.</li>\n <li>Learn the procedures and functions of assigned duties.</li>\n <li>Understand and follow oral and written directions.</li>\n <li>Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.</li>\n <li>Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.</li>\n <li>Learn, understand, and apply rules, regulations, procedures, and policies.</li>\n <li>Understand and be sensitive to the needs and culture of TK-12 students.</li>\n <li>Work confidentially with discretion.</li>\n <li>Perform simple clerical duties.</li>\n <li>Perform the essential functions of the job.</li>\n <li>Create an engaging environment that fosters a sense of belonging.</li>\n <li>Support students in making positive behavior choices.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>High School Diploma or equivalent.</li>\n <li>A minimum of 48 College Units or pass NCLB test.</li>\n <li>Must pass Live Scan (criminal background check via fingerprinting).</li>\n <li>Provide a clear TB test.</li>\n <li>Excellent communication skills (Written and Verbal).</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Valid California driver's license or State or Federal Identification.</li>\n <li>First Aid Certification desirable.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS:</strong></p>\n<p><strong>ENVIRONMENT:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Indoor/outdoor Classroom and Playground environment.</li>\n <li>Moderate noise (examples: typical school noise with children at play).</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>PHYSICAL ABILITIES:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Seeing to monitor student work and read materials.</li>\n <li>Hearing and speaking accurately to exchange information.</li>\n <li>Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate instructional equipment.</li>\n <li>Bending at the waist, kneeling, or crouching to assist students.</li>\n <li>Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.</li>\n <li>Lifting or moving objects, normally not exceeding thirty (30) pounds.</li>\n <li>Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less) for viewing computer screens.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Must be willing to work some evenings and weekends.</li>\n <li>Must be willing to travel to off-site meetings, trainings, and events.</li>\n <li>High level of interpersonal skills to relate well with many types of people.</li>\n <li>Strong intuitive skills for rapid interpersonal assessments;
