    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span>Join our dynamic and innovative team at ThayerMahan, a world leader in autonomous maritime surveillance and monitoring.  Headquartered in Groton, CT, we are a fast-growing, mission-focused, innovative technology company in the Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) space.  At ThayerMahan we pride ourselves on fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous growth.</span></span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Deckhand / Engineer</span></p>\n<p>ThayerMahan is a growing maritime technology company located in Groton, CT.  In support of its various missions ThayerMahan operates multiple vessels with various roles within the maritime technology and offshore services area.  We are looking for experienced and safe candidates to serve aboard our vessels as Deckhand / Engineers.  Ideal candidate will have experience aboard OSV’s, research vessels, or small passenger vessels and experience working with diesel engines and vessel systems.</p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Experience Requirements</span><br>• 1-2 years’ experience sailing as AB, OS  or QMED<br>• Experience sailing as Deckhand or Engineer on board CTVs, OSVs, passenger ferries, charter vessels or similar<br>• You are good at working as a team<br>• Focused on providing excellent customer service and relationship building<br>• Experience handling lines and maintaining vessels<br>• You take and give direction well<br>• You can prioritize, be persistent and have a high work capacity<br>• Desire to advance your career in the Offshore Maritime industry</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">EDUCATION</span><br>High school education, preferably further maritime or technical education.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">CREDENTIALS<br></span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Min. Requirements:</span><br><br>• Able to obtain TWIC and USCG MMC<br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Preferred:</span><br>• AB OSV or greater<br>• STCW Basic Training<br>• QMED<br>• Rigger and Crane Operator training</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">COMPETENCE REQUIREMENTS</span><br>• Experience working with and repairing diesel engines, electrical equipment, pumps and plumbing systems.<br>• Skilled in vessel operations and seamanship<br>• Excellent verbal and written communication<br>• Desire to learn and improve<br>• Knowledge in technical systems and maintenance<br>• Operational HSSE-Q knowledge.
