    "description": "<h2>Department Overview</h2>\n<p>Food Service Workers prepare simple foods according to standardized menus, recipes, or verbal instructions</p>\n<p>given by supervisor; makes salads, dressings, gelatin, toast, or sandwiches; grills sandwiches, pancakes, eggs, French toast, and hash browns and toast; cleans, cuts, and chops vegetables and fruits; slices meats, cheeses, and breads; cuts desserts; adjusts recipe quantities to eliminate excessive waste of food products; fills drink machines, mixes beverages, makes coffee, and prepares sack lunches or snacks; uses various types of commercial kitchen equipment such as mixers, slicers, and choppers; prepares simple desserts such as</p>\n<p>pudding, cobbler, and loaf cakes; slices and wraps bread and other baked items; checks for proper temperature of prepared foods with thermometer; observes food to be sure it is visually appealing and of high quality.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Additionally, you may transport food back and forth from the kitchen to the cafes, clean tables, mop floors,</p>\n<p>stock utensils, cups and beverages. Serve food from steam tables, fill 5-gallon buckets of ice for the soda</p>\n<p>machines, lift 30-50 lb. boxes of soda syrup and clean equipment.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Some cashiering duties may be assigned for less than ½ of your scheduled shift, as well as any additional</p>\n<p>duties assigned by a manager or supervisor.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Relief employees</strong> must be available to work at least four (4) days per pay period as determined according to the department needs</p>\n<h2>Function/Duties of Position</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Great customer service. </li>\n <li>Ring in customer order. </li>\n <li>Help customers with special needs. </li>\n <li>Stock items for customers. </li>\n <li>Clean in the café, dish room and serving food. </li>\n <li>Food preparation. </li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Required Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Food Handler’s Permit</p></li>\n <li><p>Some positions may require the ability to push food carts and/or lift materials up to 50 pounds.</p></li>\n <li>Good understanding of math, customer service, cleanliness and food handling skills. </li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Preferred Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>High school diploma or GED certificate. </li>\n <li>6 Months food service experience. </li>\n <li>ServSafe certificate </li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Additional Details</h2>\n<p>Exposure to loud noise, heat, grease, and cold. </p>\n<h2>Why apply to OHSU?</h2>\n<b>We are Oregon's only public academic health center.</b> In addition to caring for patients, we lead groundbreaking research.
