Assistant Teacher 2026-2027

Lead small-group and whole-group lessons aligned with NJ State Standards and the school curriculum. Co-teach full time alongside the lead teacher and cover classrooms during teacher absences. Support differentiated instruction and provide targeted interventions to meet diverse learner needs. Monitor, assess, and grade student work to inform instruction and support scholar growth. Maintain a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes engagement, safety, and achievement. Collaborate with colleagues, school leadership, and families to support scholar success and strengthen home–school partnerships. Participate in professional development, coaching, and mentorship to enhance instructional skills and progress toward full NJ teacher certification by the end of the school year. Reflect on practice, apply feedback, and stay current on best practices in literacy, classroom management, and culturally responsive teaching. What do we require from you? Bachelor’s degree required. NJ substitute certification required Must provide proof of scheduled exams or enrollment in a Praxis preparation program by start date Must provide proof of NJ certification by March Familiarity with Trenton’s community and educational landscape.
