We ensure efficient functioning and high availability of this infrastructure - Databases, Cloud Services, platforms and applications.</p><p><b>Champion our new Database platforms</b></p><p>You will analyze, design, implement and operate mission-critical database services. You'll be using Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.</p><p>As a Database Administrator II, you will be responsible for:</p><ul><li class=\"lst\">Supporting day-to-day operations with large-scale, highly available, reliable, high-performing transactional (OLTP) databases hosted in geo-distributed cloud-based datacenters</li><li class=\"lst\">Providing Oracle expertise with performing database operations with minimum (or zero) downtime</li><li class=\"lst\">Being a liaison for database-related problems between operations, architecture, development, and QA groups</li><li class=\"lst\">Automating routine database operations using scripting or cloud automation tools</li><li class=\"lst\">Mentoring junior DBAs</li><li class=\"lst\">Participating in architecture and incident review boards</li></ul><p><b>Do what you love</b></p><p>To be successful in this role you will:</p><ul><li class=\"lst\">Have 5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field</li><li class=\"lst\">Have 5+ years of Oracle experience, with expertise in supporting highly available transactional systems (4-9s)</li><li class=\"lst\">Have advanced knowledge of Oracle troubleshooting and performance tuning for PL/SQL and the database in a Cloud</li><li class=\"lst\">Have 5 years of experience as Oracle DBA with routine automation experience</li><li class=\"lst\">Have 5 years of outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including experience working with culturally diverse and geographically distributed teams</li><li class=\"lst\">Be able to communicate effectively with Program Management, InfoSec, Engineering, QA, and Operations personnel</li><li class=\"lst\">Have deep knowledge of Cloud DevOps principles</li><li class=\"lst\">Be required to undergo or possess and maintain a successfully adjudicated USG Tier 3 background investigation</li></ul><p><b>Work in a way that works for you</b></p><p>FlexBase, Akamai's Global Flexible Working Program, is based on the principles that are helping us create the best workplace in the world. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $88,900 - $160,100/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
