JOB TITLE: Bus Driver, Team Lead JOB PURPOSE: Provide functional supervision and leadership to peer shift bus drivers. Drive a bus or van on regularly scheduled or special assignment runs. This position has been deemed essential as addressed in the University of Wyoming’s Employee Handbook . Employees in essential positions may be required to work during emergency closures and winter closure based on the nature of their job duties and the reasons for the closure. This position involves on-call status. This position is grant funded and considered at-will employment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assume essential responsibilities for shift supervisors when absent, while fulfilling route assignments. Assist in the communication of daily responsibilities to other Bus Driver’s, coordinating those responsibilities with dispatch when necessary. Perform Safety and Quality Inspections of the other Bus Drivers in accordance with department standards when requested. Maintain knowledge of Federal and State Regulations relevant to Public Transit. Assist the Training and Safety Manager with driver training when requested. Help facilitate communication between management and other Bus Drivers. Provide leadership to their team during daily operation as defined by their shift supervisor. Fulfill daily Bus Driver route responsibilities. Participate in the on-call rotation. Professionally develop within the position. SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS: May serve as backup for charter bus driver when needed. Assist in communication of daily responsibilities to Bus Drivers, coordinate with dispatch as necessary. Other duties as assigned. COMPETENCIES: Attention to Detail Independence Safety Awareness Service Orientation Conflict Management Collaboration MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High School Diploma or GED Experience: 2 years Transit Bus Driving Experience, Knowledge of Transit Operations Valid CDL (Commercial Drivers License) with Passenger endorsement, with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the Driving for University Business SAP . Within six months following employment, must complete: Bus Operator Training through Transportation Safety Institute (TSI) 8-hour Defensive Driving Course First Aide Certification CPR Certification Must be able to pass all drug and/or alcohol screening(s) required by the UW (University of Wyoming) Drug and Alcohol Policy. Must be in DOT regulated Drug and Alcohol testing pool including pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident tests. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of University of Wyoming Policies and Procedures. Knowledge of Current University of Wyoming Transit Operations. Knowledge of federal, state, and local rules and regulations pertaining to bus transportation. Ability to work as a team leader in a professional team environment. Ability to follow and deliver written and verbal instructions. Ability to follow and enforce safety procedures and protocols as directed. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Able to problem solve and work with minimal supervision while upholding and enforcing department policies and procedures. First Aid/CPR Certification TSI (Transportation Safety Institute) Certification. Defensive Driving certification. High School Diploma or GED</strong></p>\n<p>Experience:<strong>&nbsp; 2 years Transit Bus Driving Experience, Knowledge of Transit Operations</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Valid CDL (Commercial Drivers License) with Passenger endorsement, with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the <a href=\"https://www.uwyo.edu/regs-policies/_files/docs/policies/uw-sap-7-9.10-vehicle-sap-driver-portion-approved4-27-22.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Driving for University Business SAP</a>.</li>\n <li>Within six months following employment, must complete: \n  <ul>\n   <li>Bus Operator Training through Transportation Safety Institute (TSI)</li>\n   <li>8-hour Defensive Driving Course</li>\n   <li>First Aide Certification</li>\n   <li>CPR Certification</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>Must be able to pass all drug and/or alcohol screening(s) required by the UW (University of Wyoming) Drug and Alcohol Policy.</li>\n <li>Must be in DOT regulated Drug and Alcohol testing pool including pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident tests.&nbsp;</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:&nbsp;</strong>&nbsp;</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Knowledge of University of Wyoming Policies and Procedures.</li>\n <li>Knowledge of Current University of Wyoming Transit Operations.</li>\n <li>Knowledge of federal, state, and local rules and regulations pertaining to bus transportation.</li>\n <li>Ability to work as a team leader in a professional team environment.</li>\n <li>Ability to follow and deliver written and verbal instructions.</li>\n <li>Ability to follow and enforce safety procedures and protocols as directed.</li>\n <li>Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.</li>\n <li>Able to problem solve and work with minimal supervision while upholding and enforcing department policies and procedures.</li>\n <li>First Aid/CPR Certification</li>\n <li>TSI (Transportation Safety Institute) Certification.</li>\n <li>Defensive Driving certification.</li>\n <li>Completion of FTA Drug and Alcohol training</li>\n</ul>\n<div>\n <p><strong>REQUIRED APPLICATION MATERIALS: </strong></p>\n</div>\n<div>\n <p>Complete the online application.&nbsp;
