JVC Enterprises, a long-established name in Grand Rapids area trucking, now part of the Peterson Farms Family of Companies, has an opening for a semi-trailer and truck mechanic. Primarily looking for someone to work on reefer trailers to start, but willing to consider a more experienced applicant as well! Apprentice to Master Certified considered. Pay based on experience and certifications. Bring your tools and let&rsquo;s get to work!</p><p data-pasted=\"true\">The primary function of this position is to diagnosis, repair, and maintain heavy-duty diesel trucks and trailers, performing tasks such as engine overhaul, brake system repairs, suspension work, and preventative maintenance</p><p>RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Troubleshoot and fix diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, drive units, and electrical systems.</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, fluid checks, belt/hose replacements, and tire services.</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Conduct annual DOT inspections and ensure all repairs meet Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Rebuild or replace brake systems (air/hydraulic), suspension, steering, and HVAC systems.</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Repair components using welding and cutting equipment.</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Prepare detailed work orders, maintain service logs, and use computer-based diagnostic tools. Manage work orders, preventative maintenance programs and inventory controls.</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Complete each repair in a timely and efficient manner.</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Ensure proper completion and submission of any and all paperwork.</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Accurately communicate appropriate information to those who need to know on a timely basis.</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Use proper test equipment for troubleshooting.</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Repair and replace damaged or worn parts on equipment.</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>All other duties as assigned.</p><p>QUALIFICATIONS</p><p>Education</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>High school graduate or equivalent preferred.</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>One or more current State of Michigan Heavy Duty Truck (HDT) Repair Specialty Certifications, or at least an Apprentice License with the ability to obtain State Certification.</p><p>Work Experience</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Minimum of three years of diesel mechanic or heavy truck repair experience preferred.</p><p>Skills and Knowledge</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Ability to read, interpret and follow written job instructions.</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp;
