Responsible for Pharmacy operations at Specialty Pharmacy including fulfillment, compliance with state and federal regulations, strategic planning, inventory control, third party billing and customer service. Responsibilities A day in the life of a Staff Pharmacist at Hackensack Meridian Health includes: Function of Staff Pharmacista. Processing medication ordersb. Reviewing patient medication histories as neededc. Reviewing patient medication profilesd. Determining alternatives for achieving outcomese. Educating patients on drug therapy Monitoring patient outcomesf. Monitoring potential adverse drug reactions, drug-drug, and drug-food interactionsg. Verifies and supervises all technician duties for accuracy, quality, and timeliness, including computer profile order verification/order entry, prescription processing, billings, and all drug handling procedures.h. Maintain documentation and control of controlled substances including ordering and destruction as defined by policy and applicable regulationsi. Participates in department projects or committees where neededj. Act as a key drug information resource to physicians, nurses, and patients Responsible for assisting pharmacy manager with all pharmacy site operationsa. Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations governing the practice of pharmacyb. Participate in the system wide budgeting process. Responsible for input and implementation of site budgetsc. Accountable for appropriate scheduling to meet patient/customer needsd. Accountable for maintaining site inventory control at acceptable levels Participate in developing regional strategic planning and integration effortsa. Responsible for local implementation of system wide quality assurance, error reduction and customer satisfaction programs Work with the specialty pharmacy manager and clinical team to develop and implement regional marketing efforts Serve as the local liaison between pharmacy, the community at large, payers, other professionals and other HMH SPECIALTY PHARMACY entities Assist in managing and supervising pharmacy staff a. Provide leadership, mentoring and development opportunities for staff and establish goals, projects and initiativesb. Oversee the productivity level of staff to maximize efficiency, assure adequate and appropriate staffing levels, and control costsc. Maintains routine workflow, integrating non-routine work and relays information as necessaryd. Assist Pharmacy Manager to oversee recruit/interview/hire staff. Ensure ongoing education of current staff. Identify training needs of personnel, develop and coordinate with the training department, and conduct training where applicablee. Utilize certified technician staff appropriately to support the overall goals of HMH Specialty Pharmacyf. Participates in the instruction and supervision of technician externs and pharmacist interns Demonstrates Commitment to Customersa. Is aware of different customer needs/desiresb. Takes action to meet customer needs/desires with respect to customer diversityc. Helps improve processes to meet customer needsd. Suggests and acts on ideas to improve overall customer servicee. Other duties as assigned Qualifications Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Bachelor`s degree At least three (3) years of previously effective pharmacy experience in Hospital, Retail, or Specialty Pharmacy. Must be comfortable using multiple software programs. Strong verbal and communication skills. Must be organized and possess effective time management skills. Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: PharmD Specialty Pharmacy Epic/Willow Ambulatory Licenses and Certifications Required: Registered Pharmacist License.
