Responsibilities JOB SUMMARY Position is responsible for the quality of parts from purchase order to shipping at Winsted’s operations. Tasks as required, are performed to warrant the processing of parts to customers purchase orders, specifications and engineering drawings. JOB ROLES Systems thinker --sees the business and its operation holistically; understands actions and reactions; considers multiple pathways of potential effect before decisions; thinks strategically about interventions with an eye toward scale Optimizer --constantly challenging the organization to work smarter; supports others to ensure they have what they need to do their work successfully Anticipation --looks ahead to minimize potential issues and maximize advantages; prepares others for what comes next Operational accelerator --drives continuous improvement; understands ramifications of automation and other advances; advocates for safety, ergonomics and scalable solutions Organization and structure --works within existing structures while striving to improve and standardize them; provides accurate information; galvanizes others toward common goals Influence --leverages knowledge, relationship, data and perspective to persuade, educate and navigate; gains buy in and adoption of ideas and practices at scale; interacts with a variety of stakeholders Data informed --focused on things that drive quantifiable business outcomes; evaluates based on quantitative feedback; knows and explains the “why” behind actions Prioritized reaction --handles the unexpected without losing sight of important objectives; reacts where greatest leverage points exist Relationship --connects individually and with teams across shifts and practices; builds rapport and commonality; creates a “win together” ethic; serves as liaison between shop floor and engineering; keeps the pulse of the floor; helps people feel heard JOB FUNCTIONS Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation. Communicates customer purchase order information to supply chain internally and externally. Develops and implements methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and devises methods to assess cost and responsibility. Guides workers engaged in measuring, inspecting and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, products, or process quality and reliability. Prepare process approval requests and prepare first article data and characteristic accountability Interface with customers and suppliers on specifications, problems and deviate material. Response to customer corrective actions as required and issues corrective actions to suppliers as needed. Perform various audit functions. Reviews customer purchase orders and specifications and drawings. Support shop floor manufacturing cells as required. Responsible for area records and procedures for AS9100. Reviews internal work instructions. Actively participate, promote and comply with all EHS programs and policies. May act as custodian for MRB and issues applicable reports. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications JOB QUALIFICATIONS Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing or quality management 2 years relevant experience Preferred Qualifications Aerospace manufacturing experience Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt CQE This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent (i.e., Green Card Holder), Political Asylee or Refugee. Organization The Howmet engines business produces world-class aerospace engine components, including investment castings, fasteners, rings and forgings.
