Description

Description The Director of Alumnae Relations serves as a strategic leader within the Advancement Office, responsible for strengthening lifelong alumnae engagement and advancing alumnae philanthropy in support of Visitation’s mission and fundraising priorities. This position reports to the Director of Advancement and works closely with the President and Advancement leadership team. The Director will evaluate existing programs and recommend innovative strategies for growth and impact, ensuring that alumnae engagement evolves in meaningful and measurable ways. Key Responsibilities Foster Lifelong Alumnae Engagement Develop and implement a well-informed vision for alumnae engagement that deepens lifelong relationships and increases participation across generations. Create opportunities for alumnae to connect with one another and with Visitation through intellectual, spiritual, social, professional, and service-oriented programming. Engage alumnae across life stages, recognizing the unique interests of young alumnae, mid-career professionals, and longtime graduates. Build strong relationships locally and nationally, serving as a visible ambassador for Visitation. Create Meaningful Programs and Experiences Design and facilitate a robust annual calendar of events, including Reunion Weekend, regional gatherings, networking events, mentorship programs, and virtual engagement and learning opportunities. Expand regional and national outreach to strengthen connections beyond Washington, DC. Foster opportunities for alumnae to mentor students, share professional expertise, and contribute to the life of the school. Celebrate alumnae accomplishments and elevate stories that reflect Visitation’s mission and impact. Empower Alumnae Leadership and Volunteerism Recruit, support, and inspire alumnae volunteers and leaders, including the Alumnae Board, reunion class agents, and regional volunteers. Develop leadership pathways that empower alumnae to strengthen the Visitation community. Partner closely with alumnae leaders and school colleagues to advance shared goals. Inspire Philanthropy and Stewardship Partner with the Director of Advancement to develop and execute a comprehensive alumnae philanthropy blueprint aligned with Visitation’s mission and fundraising priorities. Support cultivation and stewardship of alumnae donors, connecting their experiences with meaningful opportunities to support institutional goals. Lead reunion giving efforts, establishing participation and fundraising goals, and guiding volunteer committees to achieve measurable outcomes. Conceive and execute alumnae engagement efforts during Give-2-Visi, leveraging GiveCampus and other digital platforms to increase participation and philanthropic support. Help build a culture in which philanthropy is viewed as a natural extension of lifelong gratitude and connection to Visitation. Collaborate and Communicate Serve as a member of the Advancement leadership team, contributing to fundraising initiatives and cross-functional planning. Partner with Advancement, Communications, Admissions, and school leadership to ensure alumnae remain meaningfully connected to Visitation’s mission and future. Utilize strategic communications, storytelling, and digital engagement to keep alumnae informed, inspired, and involved. Produce a monthly alumnae newsletter in collaboration with the Communications Office. Maintain accurate data and engagement tracking within Raiser's Edge and related systems to inform strategy and measure outcomes. The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will be a warm, strategic professional who excels at building authentic relationships and fostering community. They will bring initiative, sound judgment, and a commitment to strengthening alumnae engagement and philanthropic participation. The ideal candidate will: Demonstrate strategic thinking and the ability to translate vision into measurable outcomes. Engage confidently with multigenerational audiences, including young alumnae, longtime graduates, and their families. Inspire volunteer leadership and foster meaningful involvement. Value collaboration and contribute thoughtfully within the Advancement leadership team. Embrace Visitation’s Catholic identity rooted in the Salesian tradition, modeling humility, gentleness, joy, and gratitude. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required. 5–7 years of experience in advancement, alumnae relations, fundraising, or related nonprofit leadership. Ability to manage confidential materials and situations with discretion and sensitivity. Proficiency in Microsoft and Google applications; experience with Blackbaud’s Raiser's Edge or comparable CRM systems. Experience utilizing digital fundraising and engagement systems, including GiveCampus. Demonstrated success in relationship-building, volunteer engagement, event planning, and/or fundraising. Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to engage confidently with diverse audiences and inspire meaningful involvement. Occasional evening and weekend commitments and regional travel required. The salary range is $95,000 - $115,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits also include contributory group health, dental, and vision insurance, non-contributory life/AD&D, short-term and long-term disability insurance, contributory retirement plan with matching contributions after one year of service, tuition remission benefits per handbook policy, and generous paid time off.
