    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p>This PLM position will play a key role in the growth and profitability of Coherent by managing the Optical Circuit Switch (OCS) product line. The PLM is the owner of the product, and directs R&amp;D, Operations, and Sales resources necessary for business success. The position involves significant external (customers, suppliers, contract manufacturers, industry experts) and internal (R&amp;D, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Legal) interactions.</p><p><strong><u>Primary Duties &amp; Responsibilities</u></strong></p><ul><li>Communicate with customers’ R&amp;D to understand customers’ needs</li><li>Manage communication with customers before, during, and after the design-in process.</li><li>Develop roadmap for the OCS product line. Set the guidelines and spec for the products</li><li>Accompany the development process</li><li>Coordinate allocations of new products during development phase</li><li>Set and manage pricing for the OCS</li><li>Identify and pursue business opportunities (including, new products, new applications, new customers, etc.)</li><li>Respond to customers’ RFQs and provide technical and marketing data to support the sales’ process</li><li>Maintain OCS forecasts and communicate them to stakeholders within Coherent</li><li>Produce technical documents (specs, user guides etc.) and marketing documents (product brochures, product briefs, white papers etc.)</li><li>Responsible for technical editing of product data sheets, specifications, and other collateral.</li><li>Define detailed customer requirements for new products.</li><li>Communicate roadmaps, product portfolio, selling features, competitive advantages, market applications, etc. to world-wide sales force.</li><li>Identify and quantify market opportunities for new products within the OCS product line.</li><li>Own and drive P&amp;L (profit and loss) for the OCS product line and report P&amp;L metrics to management.</li><li>Monitor market share metrics to assess market performance in individual segments.</li><li>Drive cost reductions and manage product change notification to customers.</li><li>Drive customizations and specification review process to win designs at new customers.</li></ul><p><strong><u>Education &amp; Experience</u></strong></p><ul><li>BA or BS in Engineering required.&nbsp; MBA or MS/PhD in Engineering strongly preferred</li><li>The ideal candidate will have significant business experience (Product Management, Engineering, Operations Management, R&amp;D and/or Product Marketing) in a technical environment combined with and a track record of success</li><li><p>Minimum 15 years of related experience&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p></li></ul><p><strong><u>Skills</u></strong></p><ul><li>Experience with problem analysis and resolution at the strategic and functional levels</li><li>Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills</li><li>In depth understanding of the value proposition in existing and new market segments</li><li>Proven track record of continuous improvement</li><li>Ability to easily and successfully work with employees and customers in a multi-cultural, global team environment</li><li>Ability to handle multiple priorities and complex issues involving external and internal priorities</li><li>A high standard of ethics, professionalism, leadership, and competency</li></ul><p><strong><u>Working Conditions</u></strong></p><ul><li>This position is on-site in Sunnyvale, CA</li><li>Will require frequent off-site meetings or travel</li><li>Regular use of a computer and other office equipment is necessary</li><li>Interaction with team members and external contacts is a regular part of the job</li></ul><p><strong><u>Physical Requirements</u></strong></p><ul><li>Sitting for extended periods while working on a computer or conducting meetings.</li><li>Use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents.</li><li>Occasional lifting of objects or materials up to 20 pounds for administrative tasks.</li><li>Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.</li><li>Mobility within the office environment to attend meetings or interact with colleagues.</li></ul><p><strong><u>Safety Requirements</u></strong></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp.
