Location: Taconic Biosciences is seeking an Associate Scientist Molecular Analysis to join our dedicated lab team at our Rensselaer, NY site. The Pay Range : $65,000 - $70,000 annual salary. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors. These factors include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions. The Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm, some flexibility available. The Role: The Associate Scientist Molecular Analysis is responsible for providing support of our genotyping operation, preparing next generation sequencing libraries, and developing new techniques. This person will primarily be responsible for genetic characterization of new rodent models. They are responsible for coordinating between departments to ensure project timelines are met and the appropriate tests are conducted. The role also participates in the development of new assays or techniques when additional analysis is needed. Problem solving is a core part of every day, essential for analyzing new results, and to integrate processes within a high throughput testing lab. Core Responsibilities: Establish new genotyping assays Test and review genotyping orders as they become available Prepare testing reports and genotyping milestones Coordinate interdepartmentally to receive samples and deliver results Maintain reagent inventory to support testing Perform workflows to prepare NGS libraries Operate and maintain next generation sequencing devices Implement new testing protocols Drive lab process improvement projects Write SOPs to document new protocols Support Molecular Analysis processes as needed Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in the biological field from a four-year college or technical school, or technical/managerial experience at an equivalent level Minimum 1-year relevant experience and/or training Experience in skilled or technical assignments requiring previous training to perform operations and resolve problems where some guidelines or standards are provided Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization Physical Demands: Some physical exertion is required such as long periods of standing, recurring bending and lifting, and/or lifting items up to 25 pounds. Allergen Disclosure: Due to the nature of the work performed at Taconic, employees may be exposed to allergens in the workplace, even if their positions do not involve the direct handling of animals or animal bedding.  While individuals with preexisting allergies and/or asthma may be particularly sensitive to these exposures, anyone can experience a reaction.
