    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p><strong>Purpose of Position</strong></p><p>Tektronix is seeking a mid-level Software Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of our parametric test system product line. This role is ideal for a technically strong, team-oriented developer who thrives in a collaborative, cross-functional environment. You’ll work closely with software, hardware, application engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to deliver robust, high-performance solutions that interact with physical test and measurement equipment.</p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Design, develop, test, document, and debug software for parametric test systems, ensuring high performance, maintainability, and quality.</li><li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including hardware, applications, manufacturing, quality, and marketing—to define requirements, implement integrated solutions, and align on product goals such as performance, cost, and schedule.</li><li>Engage in technical collaboration, including design discussions, brainstorming sessions, and peer reviews.</li><li>Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers.</li><li>Take ownership of assigned development tasks, delivering high-quality results independently and reliably.</li><li>Validate software functionality, performance, and robustness through system-level testing and customer application testing.</li><li>Diagnose and resolve software issues in both current and legacy systems, including those deployed at customer sites, and provide remote support to global service teams and customers.</li><li>Contribute to process improvement initiatives and help define and promote best practices for software development.</li></ul><p><strong>Required Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Applicants must be a US Person (defined as a US Citizen, US permanent resident/green card holder or person granted asylum in the US).</li><li><strong>Proficiency in Linux environments (RHEL).</strong></li><li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent experience in software development.</li><li>Minimum 3-5 years of experience in object-oriented software development using C/C++.</li><li>Demonstrated ability and motivation to quickly learn new technologies, tools, and domains as needed to support evolving project goals.</li><li>Strong understanding of software engineering principles, including threading, multiprocessing, advanced data structures, design patterns, coding standards, and secure coding practices.</li><li>Proven ability to troubleshoot complex software issues, analyze root causes, and implement effective, maintainable solutions within large, multi-component codebases.</li><li>Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly document technical designs and effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders in a team-based environment.</li><li>Experience with GUI development or user interface design principles.</li><li>Experience using version control systems in a collaborative development environment.</li></ul><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Experience developing software for complex systems involving hardware control, data acquisition, or precision measurement — especially within domains such as semiconductor testing, electronics manufacturing, or automated test equipment (ATE).</li><li>Familiarity with tools and technologies such as Jira, Perforce, Jenkins CI/CD, GTK, Lua, Ethernet, USB, and Make files.</li><li>Experience working in Agile development environments and participating in iterative feedback cycles.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p>#LI-RB</p>",
