In this role, you’ll translate engineering test data and research outcomes into clear, practical, and user-friendly documentation, including design guides, white papers, catalogs, spreadsheets, and digital tools. You’ll work at the intersection of technical precision and communication clarity, helping engineers across North America design better timber connections with MTC hardware. This position is intended for an early-career engineer who is eager to develop expertise in mass timber design, technical documentation, and product application engineering under the guidance of experienced engineering mentors. The role combines engineering analysis, technical communication, and product application, providing exposure to research, design, software tools, and industry engagement within the growing mass timber sector.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Primary Responsibilities:</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Technical Documentation:</span> Assist in creating and updating design guides, white papers, and engineering resources.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Data Analysis:</span> Interpret test results and research findings under the guidance of senior engineers to produce design parameters and engineering tables.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Codes and Standards:</span> Apply relevant design standards (CSA O86, NDS,<br>Eurocode 5, AS/NZS) and document appropriate assumptions and limits.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Team Collaboration:</span> Work with the R&amp;D team to incorporate data, the Marketing team to refine visual layout and UX/UI, and the Technical Service team to address recurring industry questions.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Design Tools:</span> Support the development and maintenance of calculation spreadsheets and digital engineering tools (e.g., CADwork plugins or software tools).</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Continuous Improvement:</span> Identify gaps or ambiguities in existing resources and propose updates that simplify the designer experience.<br><br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Qualifications:</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Timber Engineering (or equivalent background)</li>\n<li>0–4 years of engineering experience</li>\n<li>Engineer-in-Training (EIT), Candidate to the Engineering Profession (CPI), or eligibility to obtain registration</li>\n<li>Basic understanding of design standards such as CSA O86, NDS, Eurocode 5, or similar</li>\n<li>Strong technical writing and analytical skills</li>\n<li>Excellent organization and attention to detail</li>\n<li>Proficiency in English required<br><br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Location:</span> Greater Vancouver, Ontario and Quebec.<br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Salary Range:</span> $70,000.00 to $90,000.00 (dependent on experience).<br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Who You Are<br><br></span></p>\n<p>You are a technically curious and detail-oriented engineer who enjoys bridging the gap<br>between complex data and practical design solutions. Its mission is to<br>generate, validate, and distribute the data and tools that enable our customers to design<br>with confidence. The department includes two collaborative sub-teams:<br><br><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">1. Research and Development (R&amp;D):</span><br>The R&amp;D team drives innovation by developing new products and generating technical<br>data through research and testing. It supports evaluation reports (ICC-ESR, CCMC),<br>industry standards, and collaborative research projects with universities and labs. Their<br>focus is to turn market needs into validated engineering solutions, the scientific<br>foundation for all MTC products.<br><br><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">2. Product Application Engineering (PAE):</span><br>The Product Application Engineering team takes the data created by R&amp;D and turns it<br>into the design resources used by the building community. This team creates the<br>documents and tools that define how our products are applied in practice, from design<br>guides and catalogs to calculation spreadsheets and software integrations. Their goal is<br>simple but ambitious: make it as easy as possible to specify MTC hardware in mass<br>timber projects.<br>Together, these two teams form a continuous loop:<br>Research creates knowledge → Application turns it into tools → Field feedback drives<br>new research.<br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">The Junior Product Engineer’s Place in the Team<br></span><br>As a Junior Product Engineer, you’ll be a key contributor within the Product Application team.
