Chestnut also conducts research and training throughout the U.S.A.</p>\n<h3><strong>Internship Overview</strong></h3>\n<p>Chestnut Health Systems is seeking compassionate and motivated students for a <strong>Human Services Internship</strong>. This opportunity provides hands-on exposure to behavioral health and integrated care services, allowing interns to learn directly from experienced professionals while supporting individuals and families in need.</p>\n<ul>\n <li><strong>Internship Capacity:</strong> 3–4 students per semester</li>\n <li><strong>Minimum Age Requirement:</strong> 21 years</li>\n <li><strong>Schedule Availability:</strong> Monday–Friday</li>\n <li><strong>Timeframes Available:</strong> Morning, Afternoon, and Evening hours</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<h3><strong>Client Populations Served</strong></h3>\n<p>Interns will gain experience working with diverse populations, including:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Young Adults (18–30)</li>\n <li>Adults</li>\n <li>Older Adults (65+)</li>\n <li>Individuals with Mental Health Needs</li>\n <li>Individuals with Substance Use Disorders</li>\n <li>Individuals Coping with Domestic Violence</li>\n <li>Individuals Experiencing Homelessness</li>\n <li>LGBTQIA+ Individuals</li>\n <li>Veterans and Military Families</li>\n <li>Low-Income Individuals and Families</li>\n <li>Families, Parents, and Caregivers</li>\n <li>Victims of Crime or Trauma</li>\n</ul>\n<h3><strong>Programs & Services</strong></h3>\n<p>Interns will primarily engage in:</p>\n<ul>\n <li><strong>Inpatient Services:</strong> Crisis unit, substance use residential treatment, and supportive housing</li>\n <li><strong>Outpatient Services:</strong> Employment support, helping clients obtain and maintain employment</li>\n</ul>\n<h3><strong>Common Client Needs & Challenges</strong></h3>\n<p>Clients often experience:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Mental health symptoms</li>\n <li>Substance use disorders</li>\n <li>Housing instability and financial hardship</li>\n</ul>\n<h3><strong>Fieldwork Role & Responsibilities</strong></h3>\n<p>Interns will participate in structured, supervised activities such as:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Observing group and individual sessions</li>\n <li>Monitoring clients with staff present on units</li>\n <li>Shadowing employment specialists</li>\n <li>Participating in groups and outreach activities</li>\n <li>Observing direct care services</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<h3><strong>Preferred Skills & Qualifications</strong></h3>\n<ul>\n <li>Ability to take direction and apply feedback</li>\n <li>Understanding of professional boundaries</li>\n <li>Strong professionalism and reliability</li>\n <li>Interest in recovery-oriented care</li>\n <li><strong>Must be enrolled in the Human Services Program </strong></li>\n</ul>\n<h3><strong>Keys to Success</strong></h3>\n<p>Successful interns will:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Demonstrate compassion and empathy</li>\n <li>Understand the complex challenges of the populations served</li>\n <li>Maintain professionalism and boundaries</li>\n <li>Practice consistent self-care</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Are you intrigued by this opportunity but unsure if it’s the right fit?
