The psychologist will serve patients and families through the entire process of transplantation beginning when the need for transplantation and/or dialysis is identified and following them post-transplantation.  The psychologist will also provide back-up support to our heart transplant psychologist. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Our Brendan Tripp Elam Transplant Center is one of the leading transplant centers in the country, providing a high volume of liver, kidney, and heart transplants with excellent long-term outcomes. We are known for caring for complex patients. In addition to the psychologists, the transplant team includes surgeons, physicians, transplant coordinators, pharmacists, dietitians, social workers, and child life specialists.  The psychologist would be a member of the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Health and would also integrate within the Brendan Tripp Elam Transplant Center. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>We are recruiting a psychologist who has training and/or experience with youth with liver, kidney and/or heart transplants as well as serving patients on dialysis. This position would be a blend of inpatient and outpatient treatment. Experience conducting targeted outpatient therapy, evidence-based interventions, pre-transplant evaluations, inpatient consultation, multidisciplinary care conferences, and psychological testing is desired. In addition, some program development opportunities will be available as the transplant programs expand their outreach and services (e.g. living donor program).</p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p>This position will include teaching in the hospital’s pediatric medical and psychology training programs.  It will also include protected academic time for service, research, and other scholarly activities.  Faculty mentoring is provided for all new faculty members, with additional supports available for those interested in clinical scholarship (e.g., program evaluation, quality improvement initiatives).  This position carries an academic appointment at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, with rank commensurate to qualifications and experience.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Applicants must have:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>A PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology, pediatric psychology, clinical child psychology, or related field</li>\n <li>Completion of an APA-accredited internship and/or post-doctoral fellowship with clinical child and adolescent psychology as a major area of study</li>\n <li>Eligibility for clinical psychology licensure in Missouri and Kansas</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>The Division of Developmental and Behavioral Health at Children’s Mercy is growing and expanding programs as part of the institution’s Mental and Behavioral Health Strategic Plan</strong> Illuminate: Lighting the Path Forward for Mental Health | Children's Mercy.
