    "description": "<p><span>Are you looking for a rewarding career that changes children’s lives outside of the classroom? </span><span>Developmental Therapists work with children from birth through the age of three and their families to meet developmental goals. Services are provided in the families’ homes in Coles, Cumberland, Shelby, Douglas, Edgar, and Clark Counties. Agency-owned vehicles are provided for work-related travel in addition to a laptop and cell phone for work-related uses. This is a full-time, permanent position.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">AGENCY MISSION/ PHILOSOPHY</span></p>\n<p>We empower lives through individual care and inclusive community support. The employee will:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Treat everyone with dignity and respect</li>\n<li>Honor and support rights and confidentiality</li>\n<li>Promote the best possible health with protection from abuse, neglect and exploitation</li>\n<li>Engage with honesty, integrity, and ethical standards in actions and communications</li>\n<li>Comply with applicable laws and regulations to prevent fraud, waste, conflict of interest, and inaccuracy in record-keeping</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">REQUIREMENTS</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to drive in the daytime or at night</li>\n<li>Provide proof of the required degree via transcripts from an accredited school</li>\n<li>Must pass a criminal background check, as required by the Healthcare Worker Background Check Act (225 ILCS 46), and a DCFS Child Abuse and Neglect background check</li>\n<li>Successfully complete and maintain American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR/First Aid certification</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">ACADEMIC/OTHER REQUIREMENTS</span><br></p>\n<p><span>Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Special Education, Child Development, Early Intervention, or Elementary Education.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span>240 hours of direct service to children from birth to three years old under the supervision of an Illinois credentialed Developmental Therapist (the agency can work with the right applicant to obtain this).</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span>Completion of the Illinois Early Intervention Systems Training</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span>Two semester hours or 30 clock hours/CEU credit hours in each of the core areas:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Working with Families of Young Children with Disabilities</span></li>\n<li><span>Assessment of Children with Special Needs</span><br></li>\n<li><span>Intervention Strategies for Young Children with Special Needs</span><br></li>\n<li>Typical and Atypical Child Development (at least 1 semester hour or 15 contact hours in each area)</li>\n</ul>\n<p>* \"<em>Young Children\" is defined as children age birth to three.
