Provide engaging and dynamic instruction to elementary school students, emphasizing skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Adapt coaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities within the student population. Utilize and actively engage in Workplace.</p><p><strong>KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):</strong></p><p>Prepare Youth for Success:</p><p>&bull; Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.</p><p>&bull; Provide individualized instruction and feedback to students, addressing areas for improvement and recognizing achievements.</p><p>&bull; Offer additional support and guidance to students who may require extra assistance in mastering specific skills or concepts.</p><p>&bull; Promote and stimulate program participation</p><p>&bull; Assist in recruiting new members</p><p>&bull; Engage students</p><p>&bull; Provide guidance and role modeling to members Ensure a productive work environment:</p><p>&bull; Participate in weekly After School Program staff meetings</p><p>&bull; Attend all site meetings</p><p>&bull; Complete Child Protective Services and Mandated Reporting documents&nbsp;</p><p>&bull; Read, sign, and abide by monthly safety topics</p><p>&bull; Monitor and evaluate programs, environment, services, and activities by actively engaging to ensure safety of staff and members</p><p>&bull; Assess programs and the appearance of all areas of the After School Program&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Program Development and Implementation:</strong></p><p>&bull; Create comprehensive curriculum frameworks for each sport, outlining skill progression and learning objectives for different grade levels.</p><p>&bull; Continuously evaluate and refine curriculum materials based on student feedback, performance assessments, and best practices in sports coaching.</p><p>&bull; Create and submit lesson plans and/or scheduled activities to immediate supervisor as required</p><p>&bull; Read and write without assistance</p><p>&bull; Implement daily lesson plans and scheduled activities</p><p>&bull; Apply BGCKC Youth Development Strategy</p><p>&bull; Provide classroom management</p><p>&bull; Implement and teach transition strategies</p><p>&bull; Provide BGCKC and District positive redirection strategies</p><p>&bull; Utilize District curriculum</p><p>&bull; Prepare and submit periodic reports as directed</p><p>&bull; Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members, quality in programs, and appearance of the After School Program at all times</p><p>&bull; Monitor and review ADP on a weekly basis to review, read, and sign documents as provided</p><p>&bull; Follow all BGCKC and individual school district policies and procedures</p><p>&bull; Ability to supervise a minimum of 20 children in a safe environment independently.</p><p><strong>Key Roles &amp; Responsibilities</strong></p><p>&bull; Commitment to Safety</p><p>&bull; Contribute to environment of safety through the learning and implementation and monitoring of all safety-related best practices, policies, and procedures.</p><p>&bull; Promote accountability to safety through consistent observation, adherence to all safety rules and practices and proactive communication among members, parents, peers, and leadership.</p><p>&bull; Obtain and maintain Mandated Reporter training and complete annual Child Abuse Prevention training.</p><p>&bull; Complete training and participate in all Emergency Preparedness protocols including drills and communication practices.</p><p>&bull; Ensure the safety and well-being of students during sports activities, adhering to established safety protocols and procedures.</p><p>&bull; Promote healthy living habits and physical fitness among students, emphasizing the importance of proper nutrition, hydration, and injury prevention.</p><p><strong>ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong></p><p>1. Participate in special programs and/or events</p><p>2. Utilize customer service model - LEARN Model - to help resolve issues regarding clients and stakeholders</p><p>3. Oversee special programs and/or events (e.g. Lights on After School, Parent Night, Back to School night), and/or participate in the implementation of other unit activities as necessary</p><p>4. Assume other duties as assigned</p><p><strong>RELATIONSHIPS:</strong></p><p>Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions, instruct, and advise/counsel. Collaborate with other coaches, teachers, and school administrators to coordinate schedules, events, and resources for sports programs. Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, upcoming events, and opportunities for involvement in sports activities. Adhere to BGCKC Code of Conduct at all times.</p><p>External: Maintain contact with schools, members&#39; parents, and others to assist in publicizing the After School Program and resolving problems with Club managers.</p><p><strong>SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:</strong></p><p>&bull; Must be 18 years of age or older</p><p>&bull; Previous experience coaching elementary school-aged children in various sports settings</p><p>&bull; Strong knowledge of fundamental skills and techniques across multiple sports, including but not limited to soccer, basketball, volleyball, track and field, and gymnastics.</p><p>&bull; Commitment to promoting inclusivity, diversity, and positive youth development through sports coaching.</p><p>&bull; Must have proof of High School graduation or GED (Diploma or Transcripts)</p><p>&bull; Must provide Negative TB test results or Assessment test completed within the last 4 years</p><p>&bull; Must have at least 48 semester college units/68 quarter units or have a paraprofessional certification &bull; CPR/First Aid &amp; AED certification and knowledge of sports-related injury prevention and treatment protocols (preferred).</p><ul><li>Ability to read, write, spell, understand, and assist with math calculations/problems and assist with homework at all grade levels</li></ul><p>&bull; Experience in working with children</p><p>&bull; Knowledge of youth development</p><p>&bull; Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems</p><p>&bull; Ability to effectively interact with the public</p><p>&bull; Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth</p><p>&bull; Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment</p><p><strong>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:</strong></p><p>These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the Sports Activity Leader position.
