Is assigned to a specific duty during the daily work shift and, when necessary, will assist other work parties to ensure the timely completion of projects.<br><br><strong><u>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:</u></strong><br>Notifies and coordinates routine and non-routine maintenance and the replacement and/or replenishment of tools and supplies with Lead Airfield Maintenance Worker or the Superintendent of Airfield Maintenance.<br>Attends various training sessions to acquire the skills necessary to operate all types of equipment; to learn snow removal and/or emergency operations and safety procedures.<br>Inspects tools and equipment on a regular basis to ensure operational safety.<br>Performs routine and non-routine inspection and maintenance of the airfield and airport grounds on a frequent basis to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the airport;<br>Operates heavy equipment, including dump trucks, snow plows, blowers, brooms, loaders and grader, mowers, crack sealers, paint stripers, jack hammers, compressors, forklifts and pavement cutters in maintaining the airport grounds, runways, taxiways, ramps and lighting system;<br>Maintains the glycol collection lagoons by monitoring meter readings, repairing pumps and performing seasonal cleaning.<br>May be required to perform any other related duties as assigned.<br>Participates in Total Quality Management Programs.<br><br><strong>QUALIFICATIONS</strong><br>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.<br><br><strong>EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE</strong><br>High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and ground maintenance work or related experience preferred;<br>Must have prior experience in the use of hand and power tools and demonstrated ability to operate a wide variety of heavy equipment<br><br><p><strong>LANGUAGE SKILLS</strong></p><p>Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.</p><p><strong>MATHEMATICAL SKILLS</strong></p><p>Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Ability to perform these operations using units of measurement in computing weight, volume and &nbsp;distance.</p><p><strong>REASONING ABILITY</strong></p><p>Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instruction. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.</p><p><strong>CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS</strong></p><p>Must possess a valid New York State Driver&rsquo;s License as a condition of employment.
