This person will be specifically responsible for providing information for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease by conducting medical laboratory tests, procedures, experiments, and analyses.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 15px\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</span><span style=\"font-size: 15px\"> </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">Determines normal and abnormal components of body fluids by conducting chemical analyses of blood, urine, spinal fluids, and gastric juices. </span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">Analyzes blood cells by counting and identifying cells, using microscopic techniques and procedures.</span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">Prepares blood, plasma, and platelets for transfusions by conducting blood group, type, and compatibility tests. Ensures operation of analyzers, and other laboratory equipment by calibrating; completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques. </span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">Maintains laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies. </span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">Conserves laboratory resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results. </span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">Provides medical technology information by answering questions and requests.</span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">Prepares reports of technological findings by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.</span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. </span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">Maintains inter- and intradepartmental workflow by fostering a spirit of cooperation. </span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.</span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control and hazardous waste policies and protocols, following identification procedures. </span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">Maintains patient confidence by keeping information confidential.</span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. </span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">Perform phlebotomy services </span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">Assist with the accreditation process and ensure standards are adhered to</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 15px\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS</span><span style=\"font-size: 15px\"> </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">Direct Report: Senior Medical Technologist and Lab Manager </span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 15px\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">Must hold a BSc in Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution in the US, UK or Canada</span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">Must be certified by the Bermuda Medical Lab Technology Council</span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">Must have at least 3 years of experience</span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">Demonstrated strong organizational skills with ability to work in a fast-paced environment independently or as part of a team</span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">Strong oral and interpersonal communication skills</span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">Strong attention to detail</span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">Demonstrated strong analytical skills</span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills</span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">Knowledge of quality control, quality assurance principles and proficiency testing procedures</span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">Demonstrated skill with laboratory information systems</span></li>\n</ul>",
