We welcome candidates who can contribute to the excellence of our academic community.</p>\n<h2>Description</h2>\n<p>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Under general supervision, performs a variety of defined research and laboratory tests and experiments according to prescribed protocols and assigned schedules.</li>\n <li>Sets up experiments as prescribed by a principal investigator.</li>\n <li>May be required to participate in laboratory maintenance activities such as sterilization and cleaning of equipment, ordering of supplies, inventory and media preparation.</li>\n <li>Maintains records, files and logs of work performed in laboratory notebooks and computer databases.</li>\n <li>Compiles data and records results of studies for publications, grants and seminar presentations.</li>\n <li>Employees in this classification may be required to work with, take specific precautions against and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents.</li>\n <li>Performs related responsibilities as required by principal investigator.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor's degree in a scientific field OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>The Computational Neuroethology lab at Emory University seeks a research-oriented post-baccalaureate fellow to assist with experiments using rodents to study how the brain processes and learns social sensory information. </li>\n <li>We will train the fellow to perform rodent surgeries and histology, and conduct behavioral studies as well as opto-/chemo-genetic stimulation and electrophysiological recordings in awake mice, working with graduate students, postdocs and the principal investigator.</li>\n <li>Potential areas for individual growth and development include learning about social and sensory neuroscience research, better experimental design and computational analyses of data; contributions can merit inclusion on publications. A commitment of 2 years is preferred. </li>\n <li>The ideal candidate would be excited to work in a neuroscience lab and learn new techniques; hold a bachelors in a neuroscience, biological, physical sciences or engineering field; and have an interest in the research of motivated behaviors and/or sensory neuroscience.</li>\n <li>We especially encourage candidates who are scientifically curious and can demonstrate good communication, organizational and time management skills, with ability to multitask; good problem-solving skills; patience and attention to detail in carrying out experimental protocols; and some proficiency with computers, ideally with some programming skills (e.g. MATLAB, Python). </li>\n <li>Work experience with rodents and aseptic surgical procedures are a bonus.</li>\n <li>This position involves: work with animals deliberately given infectious agents and/or involves work above animal biosafety level 1</li>\n</ul>\n<p>NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location.  Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion.
