We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our team in Chesapeake, Virginia. The Senior Mechanical Engineering Technician is assigned to one or more vessels in the LPD 17, LSD 41/49, or LHD 8/LHA 6 ship classes. The Senior Mechanical Engineering Technician trains and assists the ship&rsquo;s crew in documenting and scheduling Diesel Engine maintenance actions, collecting engine performance data, and assisting with engine balancing.&nbsp;</span><p style=\"line-height: 1.5;\"><br></p><p style=\"line-height: 1.5;\"><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\"><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></span></p><ul><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5;\">Engine-line health monitoring for technical accuracy.</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5;\">Technical interaction with the ship&rsquo;s maintenance team, regional maintenance centers.</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5;\">Machinery history reviews via Diesel Readiness System (DRS) Program initiatives.</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5;\">Review Diesel Engine Inspection report for accuracy.</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5;\">Write and review time-directed maintenance actions.</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5;\">Attend integrated project team development meetings, conferences, work package reviews, and industrial support visits.</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5;\">Review life cycle maintenance plans for assigned vessels.</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5;\">Monitor vessels life cycle maintenance, performance data, and reciprocating engine analysis testing for technical compliance. &nbsp;</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5;\">Coordinate to ensure that condition-based maintenance requirements are planned for upcoming availabilities.</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5;\">Review and submit technical reports, work specifications, and maintenance procedures.</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5;\">Evaluate changes to specification requests for technical accuracy.&nbsp;</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5;\">Review and provide input to maintenance policies and procedures to ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and repaired.</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5;\">Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure that parts and materials are available when needed.</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5;\">Provide training to the crew on collecting engine performance data.</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5;\">Assist and train the crew in engine balancing and grooming. &nbsp;</li></ul><p style=\"line-height: 1.5;\"><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\"><strong>Qualifications:</strong></span></p><ul><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5;\">Minimum Education: HS diploma or GED.</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5;\">Minimum&nbsp;Five (5) years of US Navy Engineman experience in the areas of diesel propulsion and power generating systems.</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5;\">Minimum Three (3) years of experience with the Diesel Maintenance Strategy (DMS) and Diesel Readiness System (DRS) programs.</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5;\">Experience should include prior certification as a US Navy Fleet Diesel Engine Inspector (DEI).</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5;\">Experience with Shipboard Automated Maintenance Manager (SAMM), conducting DOCTOR Diesel engine performance analyses (DEPAs), reviewing DOCTOR data and providing technical recommendations to correct out-of&ndash;parameter conditions.</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5;\">Experience with maritime diesel engines.
