In conjunction with the Department Nursing Operations Manager and the Assistant Nursing Operations Manager (ANOM); the CANM provides guidance, fosters collaboration, and is responsible for the unit’s clinical operations including patient care assignments, customer experience, productivity, and quality outcomes in settings where patients have an advanced illness or injury that routinely requires timely, intense, and complex care to stabilize and support the patient’s medical condition. These areas require a lower caregiver-to-patient ratio and highly trained team members with advanced skills. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>Essential Functions</strong> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Exemplar of the mission, vision, and values of Baptist Health and Orlando Health. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Participates in shared leadership structure. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Manages staffing assignments for oncoming and off-going shifts, based on patient acuity and skill set of team members to ensure patient care needs are met. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Coordinates patient flow by working directly with the Administrative Supervisors, Care Coordinators, and Discharge Planners to achieve expected outcomes. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Monitors overall status of patients within area of responsibility and closely monitors status of seriously ill patients. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Coordinates and/or participates in the delivery of patient care ensuring compliance with physician orders and established policies, procedures, and standards of practice. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Serves as a resource supporting frontline team members and providers as appropriate. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Supports clinical collaboration focusing on expected patient length of stay. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Performs direct patient care activities as required to meet operational needs. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Interfaces with patients and families to enhance customer experience by conducting Nurse Leader rounds and investigating and responding to patient/family and physician complaints. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Participates in and/or leads safety huddles. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Embraces, communicates, and promotes change and problem solving. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Assesses equipment needs to ensure staff have the equipment needed for patient care, and they can appropriately utilize equipment. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Supports and sustains all leader-driven initiatives. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Assists with retention strategies for new team members that fosters the best place to work environment.  </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Maintains a regulatory ready environment of care. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Ensures the appropriate allocation/adjustment of staff, assignment of meal breaks, relief of team members as indicated, etc. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Utilizes effective fiscal management skills and financial resources with decision-making. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Maintains compliance with all Baptist Health and Orlando Health policies and procedures. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Supports strategic imperatives by attending leadership huddles, assisting in new nursing/clinical initiatives, and fostering positive multidisciplinary partnerships through collegial collaboration. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Serves as a coach and mentor for the nursing team. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Expresses ideas clearly and effectively in verbal and written communication to team members and groups. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Fosters diversity, equity, and inclusion </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Promote a safe working environment; support and/or coordinate any follow-up related to WPV occurrences. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Appropriate Clinical Practice Knowledge </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Performance supports the Professional Practice Model. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Superior clinical and critical thinking skills for assigned unit/department. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Clinical expert and liaison ensuring care is provided congruent with Baptist Health and Orlando Health policies and procedures. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Participates in the collection of unit/department information via audits to identify opportunities for improvement </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>and trends. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Promotes high-quality nursing practice supported by evidence base practice, research, organization, and national standards. </li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Education/Training </strong>Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN) preferred. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Licensure/Certification </strong>Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Alabama or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Certification in area of expertise; preferred.  May require one or more of the following certifications based on the assigned patient population: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support(ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Experience </strong>A minimum of one year of experience as a Registered Nurse; acute care setting preferred. </p>\n<p> </p>",
