Description
***August 2026 start aligned with the school year, including structured onboarding and training prior to students arriving.***
At The Chai Center Preschool, we believe in creating a warm, collaborative, and supportive environment where children, families, and educators of all backgrounds feel welcomed and valued. Rooted in Jewish values and a strong sense of community, our school empowers teachers to take ownership of their classrooms while providing the mentorship and leadership support needed to grow professionally. We prioritize teamwork, respect, and continuous development, creating a space where educators feel confident, supported, and proud of the impact they make every day.
We are seeking a dedicated and creative Lead Teacher to join our preschool team. In this role, you will lead a 3-year-old classroom, managing all aspects of the classroom environment while creating engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences. This is an ideal opportunity for an educator who values independence in curriculum planning, enjoys building strong relationships, and thrives in a supportive, team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities: Lead a preschool classroom of 3-year-old children, maintaining a safe and nurturing environment. Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate learning activities and projects. Design and execute curriculum using learning centers, books, and hands-on experiences. Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Maintain classroom organization, routines, and appropriate child-to-teacher ratios. Communicate regularly with families, including sharing updates and photos throughout the week. Provide a weekly recap to families summarizing classroom activities and learning. Participate in weekly staff meetings focused on planning, collaboration, and support.
Qualifications: CDA or Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education required. Ability to work 9 AM to 3 PM (30 hours a week) daily from September to June. Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred. Previous experience working in a preschool classroom preferred. Strong understanding of child development and classroom management. Ability to plan and execute curriculum independently. Warm, engaging, and professional communication style. Commitment to ongoing professional development (minimum 15 hours annually). Must meet New York state licensing requirements. Why Join The Chai Center Preschool? Paid time off, including holidays and school breaks. Retirement fund contributions. Strong leadership support and ongoing mentorship. Collaborative, team-oriented work environment. Opportunities for professional growth and development. A school culture where teachers feel respected, empowered, and supported. If you’re looking for a supportive and collaborative school where you can lead your classroom with confidence and creativity, we would love to connect with you.
Apply today to join The Chai Center Preschool and help create meaningful, engaging learning experiences for young children.
