Description

Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is seeking a passionate, purpose-driven, systems thinker, with a deep understanding of climate resilience to fill the role of a Building Science Manager within the organization's U.S. Construction Services Department. The U.S. Construction Services team works with local Habitat organizations across the United States primarily through thought partnership, capacity building, and strategic investments. This individual will synthesize activities through both program and project management, helping develop, implement, and maintain regional and national grants focused on climate-resilient construction methodology. The position will have intermittent supervisory roles with temporary hires and/or outside contractors brought on to provide specialized expertise for large projects. This position will lead the development and advancement of the U.S. Habitat networks goals and achievements in equitable carbon emissions reduction through the production of hazard resilient & energy efficient projects. The Manager will be charged with creating and executing a plan to deliver technical assistance, tools, resources, grants, financing opportunities, and training to affiliates on various ways to access climate resilient resources and implement resilience strategies in the built environment. This will entail intra- and inter-departmental collaboration as well as extensive external partnership development and execution. This position will build consensus processes to define shared outcomes and determine community impact. This position will be critical for accomplishing the Habitat networks' goal to Build More and Build Better. This position will be remotely based within the US. Key Responsibilities: - Provide advanced subject matter expertise and technical skills in climate resiliency strategies in the built environment for initiatives within the U.S. Construction Services team, across the Affiliate Services department, HFHI more broadly, and directly to Habitat affiliate support organizations (ASOs) and affiliates. - Develop and implement workplans and potentially support future staff to develop and execute work plans that strategically optimize technical assistance, training, tools, resources, and grants to affiliates across the topical areas of hazard resilience, and energy efficiency within the built environment. - Foster partnerships and develop and manage team of consultant experts (and potential staff) to maximize the utility and impact of climate resilient resources and adoption in communities, especially those who have been most impacted. - Support fundraising, grant administration and management, communications, affiliate support center and other areas of HFHI to align efforts that raise the profile of climate resilience work and opportunities for the network. - Align resiliency work with other HFHI divisions and departments through collaboration and coordination to ensure efforts are maximizing outcomes. - Represent HFHI as a climate resiliency expert in external opportunities (e.g. advisory councils, committees, conferences, industry engagements) that influence broader housing sector, policy makers, and partnerships. Key Requirements: - B.S. or equivalent combination of education and experience. - 5 to 7 years of experience in building science, engineering, or renewable energy projects with at least five years of experience in the non-profit housing development community or similar industry such as construction. - Ability to design, organize, and implement or manage complex projects or programs. - Ability to deliver effective technical assistance to affiliates. - Must have strategic collaboration and coordination skills. - Ability to enable cross-functional teams to operate effectively, nimbly, and respectfully. - Must have excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills. - Capability to design and ability to deliver high quality projects on time, within budget. - Ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously. The actual salary offered for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including location, internal equity and the candidate’s qualifications and professional experience. HFHI offers a competitive, comprehensive benefits package that varies by country and typically includes vacation leave, sick leave, personal days, health insurance options, retirement plan contributions and life insurance.
