These activities may include the diagnosing, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of food processing and packaging equipment, and as required, the repair and maintenance of buildings, offices and grounds in a USDA production environment.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p><p>&nbsp;</p><ul><li>Works with maintenance manager, maintenance supervisors, sanitation manager, production supervisor, and logistics management to repair facilities related problems. &nbsp;This includes, but is not limited to, changing light bulbs, plumbing, electrical throughout the facility.</li><li>Promote safety through all departments.</li><li>Training of employees for the safe operation of lifts.</li><li>Training of employees on safe welding techniques.</li><li>Assist in coaching and training of waste water technicians.</li><li>Filling in for waste water technician vacations of a week or longer.</li><li>Monitor activities of building contractors during schedule maintenance or repairs.</li><li>Assist maintenance supervisor schedule contractors for the facility.</li><li>Must communicate openly and effectively across all groups.</li><li>Must be able to take direction.</li><li>Must be able to prioritize.</li><li>Ensures production operations by determining work priorities and scheduling repair, maintenance and installation of machines, tools and equipment.</li><li>Schedule preventive maintenance on the equipment and issue work order to the maintenance personal.&nbsp;</li><li>Protects employees and visitors by maintaining a safe and clean environment.</li><li>Perform all work as assigned while adhering to established standards associated with&nbsp;</li></ul><p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Workmanship and safety.&nbsp;</p><ul><li>Responsible for the safe and dependable operating condition of all equipment in the facility.</li><li>Set-up, troubleshoot and repair of high speed wrapping, check-weighing, cartoning, case&nbsp;</li><li>Packers, UPC bar coding, boxers, erectors and conveyor equipment.</li><li>Dismantling and re-assembly of equipment to perform repairs, cleaning and lubrication&nbsp;</li><li>According to established maintenance schedules.</li><li>Testing, troubleshooting and repair of 110/230/460 volt electrical equipment including&nbsp;</li><li>Motors, starters, relays, timers, panels, breakers, conduit and wiring.&nbsp;</li><li>Able to read, interpret and use Electrical Control schematics for trouble shooting purposes.</li><li>Minor programming and troubleshooting of PLC&rsquo;s.</li><li>Understands and adheres to established safety programs (ex/ lock out/tag out, ladder safety,&nbsp;</li><li>Etc).</li><li>Communicates effectively at all levels in the maintenance and operating departments.</li><li>Provides rapid response when equipment malfunctions or breaks down.</li><li>Ensures that all the equipment is ready prior to production.</li><li>Ensures the building is maintained in compliance to city and fire regulations.</li><li>Assists in coaching and training of maintenance and operating personnel.</li><li>Fabricates parts and modifies equipment as required.</li><li>Other duties as may be assigned or volunteered for.</li></ul><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p><strong>Skills, Experience &amp; Qualifications</strong></p><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><ul><li>Possess good language skills (verbal &amp; written) to interpret procedures, comprehend&nbsp;</li></ul><p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Instructions, and to communicate effectively with others.</p><ul><li>Be self-motivated, a self starter and self-directed to work without close supervision in a team&nbsp;</li></ul><p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Environment.</p><ul><li>Hard working, dependable, safety and quality conscious.</li><li>Bilingual - English/Spanish (preferred although not necessary) .</li><li>Must possess a high school degree, or equivalent.</li><li>Reading, writing and basic math skills required.</li><li>Minimum 5 years of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic experience in a food (USDA or FDA) manufacturing environment</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Physical Requirements</strong></p><p><em>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
