Work Schedule: Maximum of 20 hrs per week, flexible working hours
Desired Length of Employment: Fall/Ongoing
Pay Rate: $10/hr
Job Description:
The Content Marketing Student Worker helps the Baylor School of Music’s Marketing & Brand Coordinator plan, create, and share compelling stories about our performances, faculty, and students. In addition to writing and scheduling digital content, this role is responsible for shooting short-form, viral-style video at events or rehearsals, ensuring the School of Music’s dynamic energy is captured for social media and other outlets when needed.
Responsibilities
- Content Planning & Calendar Support - Assist the Coordinator in maintaining an editorial calendar for concerts, recruitment pushes, and faculty/student spotlights. Stay informed about upcoming performances or special projects that warrant short-form video capture
- Short-Form Video Capture & Editing - Film quick, viral-oriented clips during rehearsals, backstage moments, or live events—focusing on behind-the-scenes insights and high-impact visuals
- Social Media & Email Assistance - Help draft social media post copy (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook) to accompany videos and short form content; schedule them using provided tools. Help design or edit email marketing materials promoting upcoming events, then measure open rates and engagement under the Specialist’s guidance
- Copywriting & Proofreading - Help draft short form copy for social, web, and email, ensuring messaging reflects Baylor’s brand voice. Spot-check grammar, style, and alignment with School of Music messaging before final publication
- Print & Design Coordination - Collaborate with the Coordinator to gather images or text for posters, brochures, or other collateral. Help design in Canva or similar platforms, maintaining brand consistency on color, fonts, and layout
- On-Location Assistance - Attend select concerts, rehearsals, or promotional events to capture spontaneous, engaging moments on video or as photos for later campaigns. Serve as a liaison with faculty and student performers for quick interviews or cameo appearances in short-form content
- Data Tracking & Reporting - Help gather basic analytics (social engagement, video views, watch time) to share with the Coordinator. Recommend small improvements or content angles for future campaigns based on performance metrics
Skills/Qualifications
- Enrollment & Field of Study - Currently enrolled as a Baylor undergraduate or graduate student, ideally studying Marketing, Communications, Film/Media, or a related field
- Video & Digital Skills - Familiarity with basic video shooting (phone or DSLR) and editing in easy-to-use software (Premiere, iMovie, etc.). Comfortable with social apps (YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels) for short-form, viral content
- Writing & Editorial Strength - Ability to craft concise copy, engaging hooks, and social post captions that fit the Baylor brand. Detail-oriented with proofreading or editing tasks
- Organized & Flexible - Willingness to shift between tasks—from filming quick behind-the-scenes footage to scheduling posts and emails. Capable of meeting deadlines, even with last-minute performance updates or event changes
- Collaborative Mindset - A team player who openly communicates with the Coordinator, the streaming professional team member, and other staff/students. Receptive to feedback, with a desire to learn from more experienced marketing professionals
- Passion for Music & the Arts - Genuine enthusiasm for supporting the School of Music’s mission, capturing its vibrant performance culture, and sharing it with wider audiences
Key Attributes
- Creativity: Thinks outside the box for quick, engaging video concepts and story angles, especially for short-form mediums like Reels or TikTok
- Adaptability: Ready to pivot on short notice—capturing a spur-of-the-moment jam session, addressing new event details
- Communication Skills: Clear in asking questions, relay project status, and suggest new ideas to Coordinator
- Initiative: Take ownership of video shoots, short edits, graphic design or micro-campaigns w/o constant supervision
