Description
The Doe Fund is a leading New York City non-profit organization that operates the enormously visible Ready, Willing & Able program, whose participants clean over 170 miles of streets and sidewalks daily. With a $69 million budget, 400+ staff members, and 46,000 individual donors, The Doe Fund is nationally acclaimed as a work-based model for solving homelessness and criminal recidivism. We empower people to break the cycles of homelessness, welfare dependency, substance abuse, and incarceration through innovative work and housing programs.
We are currently seeking a Recruitment & Outreach Specialist to join our growing team. This position will be working out of our Porter Avenue Facility, Brooklyn NY.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct Assessment Orientation Maintain the RWA waiting list Conduct initial screening of clients wanting to enter the program including checking urine results and criminal history. Distribute recruitment forms and RWA materials. Receive and follow up on recruitment forms from other facilities/clients Responsible for networking with other Assessment shelters (Charles H. Gay, 30 th Street, Atlantic Men’s Shelter) Presentations at each Assessment facility to disseminate information regarding the program criteria Transitioning client from current shelter to Porter Avenue Transferring client in CARES to Porter Avenue Preparing for clients' arrival and start in the program QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred Driver’s License required Prior experience with homeless and formerly incarcerated clients Familiarity with MICA Clients Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a diverse clientele
