    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p><strong>Position Overview</strong>:&nbsp;Provide substation protection and control design, engineering, technical support, and supervision to&nbsp;a transmission substation engineering and design team for the purpose of delivering safe, cost-effective, and quality engineering and design services. Provide technical competency and direction on complex engineering and technical problems for projects including a wide range of utility substation projects, battery energy storage systems and solar collector substations.&nbsp;This role includes both direct billable work and nonbillable project management and supervision. The incumbent is expected to lead discipline work for projects, perform responsible charge engineering duties, and manage project schedules and budgets. The incumbent will also support proposal development, project cost estimating as well as supporting business development efforts.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p>Duties &amp; Responsibilities&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Leadership and communication skills commensurate with leading a team of technical professionals in Engineering, Design, and Drafting</li>\n <li>Ability to create, reinforce, and improve technical teams in the execution of engineering designs for clients and the delivery of projects with high quality, on time, and within budget</li>\n <li>Advanced understanding of protection and control fundamentals as they apply to utility substation and transmission line equipment</li>\n <li>Expert in design of protection schemes for substation and transmission line equipment, including bus, line, capacitor and transformer protection schemes and associated settings</li>\n <li>Create and improve processes for P&amp;C designs, including P&amp;C one- and three-lines, AC/DC schematics, panel drawings and wiring diagrams&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Advanced understanding of SCADA communication design</li>\n <li>Ability to lead a team of engineers and designers&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Expert in the principles of project management</li>\n <li>Thorough understanding of substation design to include equipment arrangements and substation construction as it applies to utility substation and transmission line equipment facilities</li>\n <li>Create quality control checklists for substation P&amp;C design project scopes, estimates, budgets, one lines, three lines, AC/DC schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, settings, relays, and SCADA</li>\n <li>Ability to create and report on studies for voltage drop, fault current, and insulation coordination</li>\n <li>Perform calculations and studies using client specified software and standards</li>\n <li>Ability to write specifications and implement them on engineering drawings</li>\n <li>Oversee the work of junior staff and mentor designers/drafters</li>\n <li>Experience creating processes for design accuracy, appearance, and adherence to customer standards</li>\n <li>Collaborate, communicate, and liaise effectively with other design disciplines, colleagues, construction contractors, consultants, materials suppliers, and clients</li>\n <li>Visit sites, advise on physical engineering issues, and modify design to solve issues during construction</li>\n</ul>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p>Requirements</p>\n<ul>\n <li>8+ years’ experience as a practicing engineer&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Supervise 4-8 direct reports</li>\n <li>Bachelor’s degree from an EAC/ABET accredited Engineering Program&nbsp;OR&nbsp;an approved evaluation of non-ABET credentials by NCEES&nbsp;OR&nbsp;graduation from a Master’s or Doctoral Program in Engineering from an institution with EAC/ABET accredited Undergraduate Engineering Programs</li>\n <li>Licensed Professional Engineer</li>\n</ul>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p>Other Skills/Abilities</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Self-Motivated</li>\n <li>Work independently</li>\n <li>Team-Oriented</li>\n <li>Customer Oriented</li>\n <li>Able to manage multiple tasks and provide leadership to other team members</li>\n <li>Think both creatively and logically to resolve design and development problems</li>\n <li>Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds</li>\n <li>Proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations</li>\n <li>Good written and oral communication skills</li>\n</ul>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0in\">&nbsp;</p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0in\"><strong>Desired Qualifications</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Experience in the utility industry</li>\n</ul>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<div style=\"border:1pt solid;padding:1pt 4pt\">\n <p>NOTE:&nbsp;This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
