Description
Your mission
War Child is looking for a: Trainers and supervisors for our Netherlands Programmes
Who are we? Children stronger than war? Absolutely. But they cannot do it alone. War Child provides mental health support to children in conflict-affected areas. Our approach is evidence-based, yet connects seamlessly with children’s lived experience. The result? Unique, proven methods delivered through sport, play and creative activities. We nurture their natural resilience so they gradually begin to believe in the future again. War Child Netherlands (WCNL) is one of the fundraising members of the War Child Alliance. Alongside its fundraising activities, it also provides mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) to children and caregivers with a refugee background. War Child Netherlands implements the following evidence-based programmes: ReachNow: A simple tool that gives staff at reception centres practical guidance to detect children who may need psychological help and to encourage caregivers to seek help. The tool is specifically developed for people without a professional mental health background who are in daily contact with children and their parents or caregivers. Training in ReachNow is often combined with a workshop on child safeguarding at the reception centre. EASE (Early Adolescent Skills for Emotions): Developed in collaboration with WHO, EASE is a focused psychosocial intervention for adolescents (10–15 years) who have experienced armed conflict, displacement or other forms of adversity. The programme helps reduce stress and improves the wellbeing of young people with mild mental health problems. BeThere: A group intervention for parents and caregivers of children exposed to armed conflict, displacement and other forms of adversity. The programme helps parents and caregivers reduce their own stress and find more support in one another, so they feel better and have more energy to be the parents they want to be. The intervention focuses on increasing knowledge and skills around stress, self-care and parenting.
Purpose of the assignment
The aim of this assignment is to train, coach and supervise War Child facilitators and staff at reception centres in the implementation of the above tools and interventions. Trainers also help adapt the tools and interventions to the specific context of the different target groups War Child works with in the Netherlands.

Supervisor: Coach and supervise the implementation of tools and interventions by trained facilitators and staff of reception centres or partner organisations. Provide, on request, support and guidance tolocationstaff or management in implementing War Child’s tools and interventions and in child safeguarding.
