Description
The Physician – Dermatology Trainee is a licensed physician seeking to develop specialized expertise in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology under the supervision of experienced dermatologists. This role is designed to provide structured, hands-on training in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of dermatologic conditions while delivering high-quality patient care.
The trainee will progressively build clinical competency, procedural skills, and dermatology-specific knowledge while adhering to all clinical, ethical, and regulatory standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Care & Training
Evaluate, diagnose, and treat common dermatologic conditions under physician supervision Perform comprehensive skin examinations, including full-body skin checks Develop treatment plans for conditions such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, skin cancers, and other dermatologic disorders Participate in the management of chronic dermatologic diseases
Procedural Training
Assist with and progressively perform dermatologic procedures, including: Skin biopsies (shave, punch, excisional) Cryotherapy and lesion destruction Surgical excisions and closures Cosmetic procedures (as appropriate and trained) Maintain proper sterile technique and adherence to infection control standards
Documentation & Compliance
Accurately document patient encounters in the EMR in a timely manner Ensure all charts are completed, coded, and signed according to practice standards Comply with HIPAA, OSHA, and all applicable federal and state regulations Follow billing and coding guidelines with supervision and training
Patient Experience
Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care Educate patients on diagnoses, treatment plans, and preventive skin care Maintain a professional and approachable demeanor with patients and staff
Collaboration & Learning
Work closely with supervising dermatologists, advanced practice providers, and clinical staff Participate in case discussions, training sessions, and continuing education opportunities Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional development Accept feedback and incorporate it into clinical practice
